1987 ZX1000 gauges on a Connie
« on: February 03, 2014, 02:36:06 am »
Hey folks,

Looking at choices for different gauges on my classic (my tach doesn't behave well).  I saw these ZX1000 gauges from 84-87.

Got a volt meter on there.  Redlines at 10.5.  Anyone given this a shot?

I couldn't resist.  Pulled trigger on a set from Ebay.  Will report the outcome in a few weeks with pics!  :motonoises:

Here is what MOB shared with me when I was working up a naked C10 project:

"for the gages I highly suggest a set of e-bay ZX1000r Ninja gages. circa 1986-1990, they are plug and play, and also give you an active voltmeter, you do have to snip the white wire on the Conni harness side though, as it will be useless, and you will have a kickstand switch error light on all the time(on the ninja cluster) as the clock wire is going to be connecting to that."

This is what he used on COGZILLA.  Looks like you are on the right track.

By tachometer not behaving to you mean it "bounces" or even jumps once the "fun meter" gets going?  Once Miss Swail hits about 4750 RPM the needle jumps up and down like crazy while engine purrs along.  Some days worse than others, some days small swings, others huge gyrations.

Never really bothered to check it out.
