Title: Accessory plug install
Post by: V8shadow on June 06, 2013, 10:12:46 pm
Can't I do this by simply hooking up a radio shack cigarette plug (female end) right to the battery with an inline fuse?  It would only be used to charge a quick charge led flashlight (90 sec charge time) or to charge a cell phone or ipod.  What amp fuse should I use?  I kinda feel like a hack asking this but I am not seeing why this should be so complicated.

Any route you take is really not that complicated, there are just a bunch of options. Sure you can do it the way you described above.  If all you plan on doing is charging a flash light or some electronics, then all you would need is a low amp fuse.  I usually use a 5 amp fuse, but you can go smaller than that.

I would highly recommend using accessory plug that Murph sells on his site.  :great:

Ok thanks guys.  I saw something decent on autozone.  Going to check them out now.  No time to order online.
