finally got my trunk reinstalled
« on: June 02, 2013, 11:06:11 pm »
Hello all,a few months ago noticed that the cheap brackets that came with my copycat jc whitney trunk had cracked. so I purchased a pair of trunk mounting brackets from murph which another forum member suggested. however the brackets were too wide for my mounting plate. so what I did eas go to lowe's and purchased a piece of sheet metal and welded between the brackets, drilled a few holes for the mounting screws and now my trunk is back on. the only thing I need to do is reconnect the third brake light and maybe install some turn signals. here's a couple of pics.

Thank You.............

I am finding myself in a position where I want(need) to build up a custom bracket.

My goal is to get the backrest attached to the trunk above the factory backrest.

Nicely done, Mellow.  I've got the same box, working on something similar for mounts.   :beerchug:

thanks, sorry about the last pic. didn't realize that it was out of focus until I downloaded. by then it had gotten too late to post another one. still need alot of practice on welding, but it should suffice for this purpose.

Looks like a good sturdy solution, but just curious why you didn't just swap the brackets around, so they were pointing in.
