No one has mentioned visibility. It seems as if this set up will limit the view behind, especially mounted perpendicular to the length of the bike. It has been ridden, how was the view to your six?
View is not obstructed, I can't see the box in the mirrors unless I lean my head out a bit, no difference than with a passenger on board.
Must... resist... urge... to... comment... about... width... of... Mr... Bill's... passengers...

The top box that was on my Connie when I bought it is kind of small and somewhat damaged, cant even get a helmet in it. Wanting a box that would hold a goodly amount of stuff, started rooting around the garage & came up with a Rubbermaid box.

Well, I caved in!  After all the input from this forum, riding buddies and others, I am talked out of the Action Packer. It is replaced with a piece of standard travel luggage, which, I grudgingly admit, is a more practical application. The case + the saddlebags hold everything I need for going to FL next month, but it just doesn't have the panache of the Action Packer. Oh well. Thanks a lot for the comments.

We got lotsa stuff going on in Flowriduh next month, try and hook up with us to show off that spiffy trunk.

The Action Packer made a statement, no doubt. I would've liked seeing Granny up there on her rocker.

Mr. Bill While I really can appreciate your ingenuity and resourcefulness I am still a bit floored by your choices for luggage. Given the availability of reasonablity priced motorcycle specific luggage options or even the use of a waterproof kayak bag, for your luggage requirements

using either the action packer or the Skyway bag still does not offer you the protection required in the harsh environments you are going to be riding in. I mean its no fun riding through hours of rain and then opening up your bag only to find everything is soaking wet, maybe your camera or computor, certainly your clothing. Or having a rock fly up at speed and damage the thin wall of the action packer or tear into the Skyway.   I mean to me at least the money saved is not enough to justify the risks.   Murph sells the shad boxes and there are some decent looking chineese knockoffs, but to me quality is cheaper than replacement. I just ask that you think about it that's all.

Just my $.02

2linby..........you have a valid point, your system works very well, I had basically the same setup on my Nighthawk last summer for a trip to the West Coast, pic attached.  I was in the garage one day, got a wild hair and came up with the Action Packer thing just to be a bit off plumb. I appreciate all the input and am well aware of what I should do, but that is not always the most fun. I have a waterproof cover for the Skyway which should keep it high and dry.
