Garmin Zumo gps 550 touch screen issues resolved
« on: September 08, 2013, 05:54:58 pm »
About 1 month ago I started getting weird behavior of my zumo 550. The screen thought it was receiving input from invisible fingers!  No fear - found out a common issue is the Exciter going bad.  For $24 including shipping I was able to replace the Exciter (glass plate on top of LCD).  There's even instructions on YouTube.

I think you mean the digitizer. I have replaced mine a couple times  over the years.
I think I paid $20 for two from Ebay. You need a thin blade to separate the digitizer from the lcd screen.
I have used the blade from a disposable razor with good results.
