the Garmin GPSMAP478 for sale in the forum would be a GREAT choice....they are a fantastic unit and are highly sought-after, particularly among the endurance riding (i.e. "Iron Butt"-type) community.

Sadly, GPS units are being continually "dumbed-down" such that some features that used to be standard - and highl;y desirable - are no longer available. I have a Garmin Streetpilot 2820 as well as a GPSMAP478 and hope they both last a long, long time.

Garmin's Zumo line was designed with motorcyclists in mind. There are presently 4 models available, and the 665 in particular seems to be the most capable option available at present. While there may be drawbacks, one of these should still be sufficient to satisfy the needs of most riders.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I was kind of lazy and did not provide much info in the first post.
I have been looking at the Garmin site and did see the 665. My plan is to stop at the Garmin store
in Chicago on the way to the National and get a good look at what they have.
Thanks again

Richard,

Have you considered a GRDI such as I had mounted on my windshield in VT?

Through exhaustive research, I've found that these are a nice compliment any GPS currently on the market along with the 2DARD systems.
