I've had my Canyon cages installed since the group buy here on the forums almost 2 years ago... I've been through a number of drops in the time since, and the difference in drop distance and breakage has been drastically reduced.
Prior to he cages I have dropped my C10 in a number of stand-still and low-speed tipovers, and something almost always got crunched. It was basically, "Oh man, what did I just break?" and it was usually something critical. I've done damage to the clutch and brake levers, left mirror, shifter, bags and locks/hinges, antlers, and windshield. Yes, I have managed to make my bike do a standing flip.
The flip was my latest drop, accidentally and absentmindedly unstrapping my C-10 from the wrong side on the trailer.... The left-side ratchet let loose, the bike rebounded against the right side suspension and rolled off the right side of the trailer. And my canyon cages saved the bike from all but a broken slipgrip iPhone mount bolted to the windshield. Now, when I do the stupid crap I did all the time without my bars that always resulted in, "Oh crap, what did I just break?" instead I find myself saying, "Whew, if it hadn't been for those bars..."
I've found that at a standstill, a resisted drop onto the cages will stop the bike from going over. Highway pegs mounted to the angled upward section can absorb a bit more
momentum, but I can say that if it's bad enough to make the bike roll over, the cages won't stop it. Instead the bike does more of a "roll" than a "flop". It seems to have an effect on the amount of damage the bike takes in a rollover instead of a simple drop.
Did I mention it makes the bike 150% easier to pick up and they look awesome? Cause that's also true.
