Heli-bars for C-10
« on: January 29, 2013, 06:43:45 pm »
OK fellow COGgers, Helibars is releasing a limited edition set of Heli Horizon Handlebars for the C10 (86-06).

I received an email from Jennifer at Heli in relation to the limited release of a C-10 Horizon bar assembly.

The Horizon bars will include an adapter plate and hydraulic line extensions(x2). The bars will raise 2.5" and have 6" of pullback. Stock cables are supposed to be able to be utilized. (creative routing I guess??) Finish will be a semi-gloss black powder coat with UV inhibitors infused. I was told the configuration is similar to the C-14 Heli-bars. Bars will be adjustable at the bar adapter and at the upper pivot. They do not telescope in and out.

Here is the link:

I'm checking on the group buy for COG members.

More to follow.

Holy Moly!! That's pricey!  :-\  And I could maybe see the stock throttle cables working but not the stock enrichener cable. Mine's at the limit now. But I have to say, it does look like it would be a comfortable position. Keep us posted.

Wasn't SISF developing something that would accomplish this? I guess Helibars should be thanked but a $600 farkle on a $2500-$3200 bike is hard to swallow (for me anyway).

Far as I recall, Steve was working on rubber isolation with a 7/8" round bar coversion.  Heli's are cool, but I agree, way too much $$ for what they are.

OK. So I received an email from Jennifer at Helibars and we have been offered a group buy for this option. I am not the driver of this venture for them to produce this handlebar set, just the messenger of the offer. I am sure several others had inquired some time ago to Helibar about the them making a run on these bar sets for the fleet of C-10's out there, and I guess someone finally figured out that they might be able to sell a few. I too admit they are proud of them, but I have just about had it doing the orangutan imitation on my Connie. So here is the deal.

The Horizon Helibars are a new version of the Helibar for the Concours that resembles the C-14 Helibar.

See the Helibar ad: http://helibars.createsend5.com/t/ViewEmail/j/4E8B4F8D6143405B/130C9B2C4D874979C67FD2F38AC4859C

They offer a 2.5" rise and 6" of rearward grip placement, hydraulic cable extensions, and described as not needing any cable lengthening for installation.

The group buy individual purchases can be placed with Jennifer Pettengill of Helibars at 800-859-4642. Group purchase discount pricing is 10% once 5 orders are placed for the first 5 to 9 orders and increased discounts with additional accumulated orders.

This is a limited time offer by Helibar for this special run on the Concours Helibar and orders must be placed with Helibar by February 12th.

I know there are several options out there to rearrange the bar/seat configuration on your Connie, but here is another option on the table.

I am going to call her later this morning to check. I think there may be a few nibbles, but not sure how many commits there are so far.

I know are not cheap, but I have decided that my comfort is worth the expenditure. I spend good money on other things, so why would I shortchange the bike I spend the most time on. Being 5' 7", there are few options to get the Connie to fit my dimensions.

More to follow.

Just finished speaking to Jennifer at Helibars. There are currently two orders placed for the COG group buy and with the heavy weather and short initial purchase window for the group buy, she has extended the group buy purchase period until the 19th.

I'm in.

that was one of the reason I bought the bike. Figure the wife would never let me spend 500 on handlebars.

Giving this a bump as I have just spoken with Jennifer at Helibar and they are willing to extend this for a few more days as we are a set short of making the minimum for the group buy discount. This is a limited run and these will only be available for a short production run.

So if you want a set or know someone who might need a pair, and of course is willing to part with a few bills to make it happen.  :great:

Wow, almost sorry I sold my two sets. I swapped to a pair of bars from an old honda, factory adjustable. Sure, not as many points of adjustment, but enough to find the comfort zone.

These don't seem to have a height adjustability though like the old ones (the ones that were recalled). That was a nice feature.

The pictures don't really show the adjustment points on the new ones very well. Who's bike is that?

Those bars look nothing like my Heli bars... what's this recall you speak of?

The listed Helibars are a new version.

The original version had some cracking issues. I am not privy to the particulars. Sounds like a case for dye pen though.

Is the more information on this recall? I suspect I have an older version as well given the release timeframe for the new ones. I'll be sure to check mine over closely but...
