E-BAY GAS CAP
« on: November 22, 2012, 04:17:14 pm »
Anyone using one of these. They look good but not having to be opened without a key bothers me a bit.

A link would be nice.

Guessing it is this one for $35:

I like the looks of this one a bit better:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fuel-Gas-cap-for-KAWASAKI-ZXR400-ZG1000-Concours-GC069-/310399500840?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4845408228&vxp=mtr

Either way, though I like the idea of not having to use my key to open the cap, they look like a minor accidental overfill would be far messier than with the stock configuration.  I occasionally splash some gas over the rim, which gets drained out the overfill tube.  If I did the same with either of these caps, that splash would go all over the top of the tank.

Interesting point Jon. Never thought of that happening. Still, I think it would good next to the 06's blue paint. Thanks for posting the link.

I wonder how well the venting works on either.

I'll pass on them.  They look a lot like the ones that a few members tried a few years back.  Problem was rain water was finding its way into the fuel so I guess they don't seal that great.  Don't think I'd want something shinny  on the top of the tank anyways.

I agree on how it would look.  There was a blue anodized one that I saw that might look good, too.

Yeah, I recall some negative feedback on them from quite a while back, but I forget what the issue was exactly. I just remember deciding it looked like a bad idea.

Keep us updated if you decide to go forward with this alternate cap.

It's always good to at least have options as these bikes get older!  :great:
