Scala G-4 Rider review - interesting
« on: February 02, 2012, 03:14:36 am »
Found this video review of the Scala Rider to be a good one and quite informative.  The girl's wonderful British accent didn't hurt, either  :-*

I wish it were clearer whether you could use earbuds with this setup.  I know!  I'll ask Google!  :beerchug:

Sigh... looks like not

Sure looks like a nice unit though.  I'll bet I could learn to live with the speakers.  Well, except for the "not able to spare the cash just now" aspect of reality!

YOu can with the Sena SMH10, they have a baseplate designed to use earbuds and either a boom mic or a button mic, depending on your helmet.

I had the G4, sold it and got the Sena

BTW - rumors from a good source say that a new model Scalarider is coming that will support more p[airing than the current G4 model. Maybe that one will have the earbud feature.

Can be made to work with earbuds.

Good find...

I have been planning on a mod like this. Good to see someone else's handywork on what can fit. I plan to get an extra mounting plate for a second helmet and will do it to that one.  Also, I want to look to see if I can find a correctly sized 3.5mm jack that has the extra contacts to switch from speaker to ear bud when the plug is inserted.
