Shad trunk mounting...and what are these parts?
« on: September 17, 2013, 04:16:44 pm »
So I got one of the Shad "side cases" that Murph was liquidating recently.  It's a SH42 but supposedly the side cases are the same as the tail case just have different stickers.  It didn't come with a mounting plate so I'll still need to find one of those to mount on my 86 (unless there is another or better way?).

It did come with this bag of parts which I'm not sure where they go or what they do, anyone?

The wing shaped clips are for mounting the Shad plate to a tube-type rack.  The bolts go with the clips.  The crescent shaped piece is reinforcement for the inside edges of the case.  It mounts with short sheet metal type screws.  Mine came with it installed, if you need an idea of how it goes in, I can take a picture of it tonight.

Ah, so the little wing clips would be used with the mounting plate that I don't have, got it.

And a pic of that bar in place would be great.  I have most of the screws for it, but only one of the bars.  I played around with trying to find a place it fit inside the case but didn't have much luck.

My bags have two stiffeners each.  It's up to you if you want to install it, but I don't think it is absolutely necessary.  The screws tend to come out anyway, as you can see in the second pic.

Thanks for the pic.  I only have one stiffener anyway and since I doubt they would stay in (as on yours) over a long period of time I suppose it's not worth it.  Appreciate your help!
