Title: Side covers and brake lights.
Post by: NJDave on October 04, 2015, 09:26:06 pm
I plan to shave off the saddle bags and the mounts for them. Looking.behind them it looks like there are some grommet looking guys that look like they will accept a cover to make that area look nice and clean. Anyone know if they make them or where we can get them?

I plan to shave the rear fender too.  Are there any good LED brake lights that incorporate blinkers available for us?  Do any made for ninjas work for us?  Hard to find ones made just for the Connie.

I think you are referring to what are commonly called "antler covers".  They were standard with the C-10.  Remove the bags, and two allen-head bolts to remove the saddle bag mounts ("antlers"), and install the covers, using the grommets you mentioned.

I have a set from a 1995 C-10 available for sale if you are interested.  Otherwise, perhaps someone with a set for a '99 will chime in.

You can somethings find them on ebay.  If lucky your color if not paint to match.  Colorite has the matching colors.

I didn't ever think of that. LED brake lights could also have blinkers built in.
But, I guess it is probable.
I assume your trying to smooth the looks of the bike by removing bags and want blinker NOT to stick out?

If such a thing is available, they will be available on Ebay.
But my guess is; the blinker will not stand out a lot.... (too close to the center line of the bike), so folks may not realize you ere turning.
I suggest small (BRIGHT) (amber) LED Blinkers that mount on each side.

Ride safe, Ted

Hey Ted,  yes I want to clean up the back of the bike. I might go with some small turn signals that don't stick out much.  I wasn't sure if other model kawasaki's shared our brake light assembly.  I will make something fit! I will post pics of completed project too.  Gonna be a fun winter.

YES!!! Thanks for the inspiration! I have read about the infamous Cogzilla here on the forum. I was thinking of getting  rid of the rear fender all together. I like how you trimmed it up. Thanks for the pics. Sweet looking bike.
