Stock top box?
« on: September 13, 2012, 11:53:46 am »
Does anyone know if Kawasaki made a stock top box for the C10?

I've been thinking of adding a top box and I'm not really drawn to the bulbous looks of most of the models sold today. I'm curious to see if Kawasaki ever offered a stock box and, if so, what it looked like in comparison to the stock hard bags.

From what hear they did not offer one for the C-10. They may have offer it overseas, that sometimes happens. Just ask the ST1300 guys. They have to order the Hondaline top box  out of Canada.  >:(

Thanks, I saw that. But not really looking to fab anything up myself; just not my skill set.

I guess I'll just keep searching for a box that doesn't look like a mishapen egg.

I've heard mixed reviews on Bestem's quality. But it's hard to beat the price.

If you do not like the rounded look try looking at this trunk. It is a bit squarded off but worth a look.

What about a Givi E45 top case? http://www.giviusa.com/cases-top-case/monokey/E36-E45
It's more of a squared off shape and fits the basic bag shape better than all the egg shaped
cases. I'm very happy with the form and function of my E45 on my 04.

Dang, that thing looks like my dad's old tool box.

I do like the looks of that Givi, though. Might not be in my price range though...

It wasn't bad.  I'd put it up against Givi or Shad any day.

Yes I do see your point but if you are looking to match the squareness of the saddlebags I think you may be limited. I too had the same idea but ofter looking for 3 months I went with this on for my 06.

I've had a Bestem on my ZRX for a couple of years. No complaints re durability, but you have to use both hands to latch and lock it. At about 1/3 the price of a Givi, I'll put up with that.

The small black JC Whitney top box nearly matches the C-10 saddlebags perfectly. I had one on mine and sold it and now wish I had it back. If I can ever sell my current trunk, I will go back to the JCW one. The finish looks just like the bags.

WELL THANK YOU. I hate to say this but the box new only was $75.00 with the mounting plate. Here is better photo without the backrest pad.

I love my GIVI E45.  Easy to open, lock, use, and remove.  You will spend about $250 for the case and the bike specific mounting plate.  I also opted for the backrest pad to make the trunk do double duty (GIVI E68, $70).  The wife loves the added security.
