Where to put sunglasses
« on: October 01, 2008, 10:26:00 am »
Has anyone come up with a clever way to attach sunglasses somewhere on the Connie??? I find my eyes are fairly light-sensitive so I need them frequently but it is a royal PITA getting them out of the pocket of my joe rocket.    Cheers,    Neil

I tuck one arm of the glasses between the inner and outer fairing at the right upper corner and the windshield.  The plastic clamps it a bit and they stay put rather well.  However, spirited riding and high speed winds CAN cause them to evaporate unless careful attention is paid to them.    Generally, mine too are on my face unless I am parked, when they are tucked away again.  I also carry a pair of clear safety lenses in a case in the right pocket.  At night, the dark glasses and the clear trade places.  I prefer this to wearing a shield... until cooler weather hits anyway.  Then I'll use the shades and a clear shield or just the clear shield.

I just use a dark shield.  Real dark.  I try to not ride at night but in the rare occasion I do I just flip the shield open.  On long trips I take a clear shield in case I get in dark AND rain but in years that has never happen.   ----------------------------------  I will answer any question.  It is up to you to figure out if I should have.    <p align="left">My Photos<br

I keep mine in my tank bag. My old one had a pocket specifically for them, my new one they just sit in the end closest to me. You could probably get a stick-on clip for the dash though at your local discount store.

If you convert your glove boxes to the keyless mod, that makes them very sunglass friendly and you don't have to worry about them flying away or sliding off.  Just an idea.    We report, you decide.  04 Concours (Fenris) (mostly stock)

That's a good idea, at least for one of them. Is there an easy way to make it "keyless" but still have some sort of closing mechanism?    Cheers,    Neil

I used to keep my shades in the glove box. but after replacing the first thousand or so pairs due to terrible scratching and scuffing, I switched.    Do those who store their sunglasses in the glove box, or in a tank bag for that matter, keep them in some kind of case to protect the lenses?  What works best for you?  I keep my shades hanging from the inner plastic and my clears in a case in the right pocket.  When the light changes, I reverse the order.

Make glovebox keyless: Remove the lock by taking the nut off the back side. Remove lock. Use a round file on the hole so the hole is not round. Replace the lock and rotate 90 degrees. It now closes w/o locking...

I made my fairing pockets "keyless" by having an extra key made, putting it into a PVC pipe plug with JB Weld and painting it black. I got the idea somewhere off the forum, I think. I can transfer it from side to side and I can remove it if/when I need to be able to lock the pocket(s). I keep my sunglasses in the fairing pocket in a microfiber bag to protect the lens.

A locksmith can make you copies of the key that will open the box but not start the bike. Then you create a knob as mentioned above with these modified keys. My uncle had a gold wing and had one made like that for his gas tank.

I've got one of those sun glass holders that you use on a car visor.  It clips on the dash right above my instruments under the windscreen.    Plus I got like two for $5.  Now there is a COG solution!    Respectfully Yours!  Wess Heavner  COG #8010 CDA #0239

I use old style aviation glasses and mount the case they come in on the   top of the left hand glove box lid with a piece of 18" velcro strip thru the   belt loop. It's just like me, it's simple and it works.

Sunglasses clip for car visor as mentioned earlier. I took off the left fairing pocket cover, slip the clip on the top left (perfect fit), re-installed cover and now the glasses are readily available.     HTH

I got tired of "where did I put my sunglasses" frantic search and just bought a HJC SymaxII helmet, it has a retractable sunshade thing that slides down, not as good as sunglasses, but does help when turning west into the afternoon sun glare.    take care,  LK

I suggest you store them on a Harley rider at night.  That's where I usually see them...  Uh oh I hear Dave Muir coming down the hall!

Could be her theme song, lol  She sold her a wing of it, what ever she still can't catch me   :)   You'll never know where I'll be or when I'll be their as i'm riding in the wind.

You can now buy helmets with built in sunglasses that dont touch your face, so they won't vibrate your nose. They slide up into the helmet and when they're out they're behind your visor like regular glasses. Best of all you can make them go up or down without getting fingerprints on them. I'm perticularily fond of Nolan helmets and Denniskirk.com has them for a good price. You can get them in modular helmets and regular full face helmets.

I run a ZOX Genisis SVS helmet, has a retractible sun visor. I carry a mirrored, smoke and clear version of each and have a mirrored and clear main visor. They change out in seconds without tools. Double mirrored works great heading into the sun ! Also have prescription sunglasses, so I can get it as dark as I want depending on the day...or night.
