Which mount for the RAM X-Grip?
« on: October 26, 2014, 08:06:32 pm »
Every year around this time my wife likes me to give her a few gift ideas for both my upcoming birthday and the holidays. From past experience, I know to spell out very carefully anything that's MC-related. I'm putting a RAM X-Grip on the list, but was wondering which mount works best for the C10. I'd like to do handlebar mount if I can, and don't want to have to drill or bolt anything to the dash if I can avoid it.

Suggestions?
If you can't be a shining example, at least you can be a horrible warning.

I like it being centered and adjustable.

Is that something that is available from RAM, or did you fab it yourself?
(Sorry if that was answered in the linked thread; didn't have time to read it all).

It looks like one of these.

I just ordered one of these to go in the unused mirror mount on my controls. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0059X0YIQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Got a cup holder for commute to work. I plan to get the X grip when I have need for GPS.

I had this set up on my old motorcycle and liked it so much I moved it over to the Connie.  Keeps my Hand held GPS lower on the bars.  I'm thinking of adding another on the other side for the iphone so I can control music which plays through my BT headset in my helmet.

he mount looks like this http://www.amazon.com/Ram-Mount-Motorcycle-Base-1-Inch/dp/B0012TRIY4/ref=sr_1_30?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1414540759&sr=1-30&keywords=ram+mount

Dave, I don't think this is the one you are intending.  this one has threads for a camera connection.  it does not fit the mirror mount location.  you would want a M10x1.25 thread for that,  I believe.

I know this cause I bought one without looking close enough.  However, I can still use it cause I need something to mount my go-pro knockoff camera to my bike.  if I'm not running my "Pope Wings", I can use the post there and the 3 inch arm to attach to this mount screwed into the bottom of the camera.  problem solved!   :great:

I ordered another of the M10's today.  that one will work for my GPS mount, OR to also be able to mount the camera on the C10.

Great how things work out!  :D

I have been using this swivel mount with the X mount attached  to a ball mount screwed in the mirror mounting hole on the handle bars.

I'm about to mount up a GPS also.  I'm worried that the connie buzz will kill my GPS if mounted to the bars?  I'm leaning towards the tank mount.  Are my worries valid?

I have had my smart phone on my bars for about 3 years, with a  4 day a week 60 mile round trip commute and no issues. even used nav while in Tahoe. Thought about the tank mount butt was concerned on interfere while filling.
