Yet another mod....
« on: August 07, 2012, 01:00:15 pm »
I ended up finally installing my new 11 windscreen and putting on my refective decals on the gas tank and side bags.

Email or call Alex, nice person and very quick.

The windscreen is from
http://www.bikescreen.com/proddetail.asp?prod=KawasakiConcours8605GFss

and you can get a 10%, I'll get the code.  Also there are NO holes you must drill them.  The foruming of the windscreen is molded smaller than the inlay of the windscreen area, Snarf. By that I mean if you take the windscreen out of the box and lay it were it needs to be, it (windscreen) would be 1/4 inch to small all the way around. In the instruction it tells you to have someone "push" the windscreen on . Just a little pressue for it to start to spead and fill in the gaps. Take a magic marker and mark the holes or take a soldering iron and put a small dimple in the area to be drilled. (that's what I did) the drill bit won't dance round then. All in all it seems long but all told two people it will take 30-45 min.
I drove with in all over the week end and I love in, as you know my other windscreen was cut down to 14 inchs ans this one is forned and 11 inches. A tone mor air for me and my g/f. no really enough buffeting to complain about .

Cheers
Ron

Looking good, Ron! As an aside, did you ever find out how your painter prepped the saddle bags?

Off topic:

By what method is that ball mount attached to the dash?

What's with the passenger boards?

Hello Alekkas,
The ball mount is attached via 3 allenhead fastener with nuts. I removed the windscreen and the inner dash panel to gain access.
The passenger boards are for better comfort for a passenger. I got them from JCW  and made them work, it was not a bolt in operation. But it was easy.

Nice job.

So for the ball mount, are the bolts simply "screwed" into the dash material or bolts that go through it with a nut on the bottom?

I would think they would strip if just screws right?

More than likely, the dash plastic is not very thick.

Hello Alekkas,

Sounds like there through bolted with nuts and bolts.

That is correct. But I ONLY went thru the upper plastic, and removed the under plastic to gain access, to put the washer and nuts on. That way you dont see anything with the underpanel installer.
