Title: 12v Power Port Adapter
Post by: DanL on July 01, 2012, 11:15:26 am
I've been using the 12v port on my '11 to power my GPS. The other day I rigged up my Sirius radio, which also uses that same type of cigarette lighter power port. So now I need to power 2 devices off of the 1 outlet. Does anyone have any experience/recommendations on the various Y cord adapters, or some of the ones that are in a small chassis that have USB ports as well? I'm sure I could rig up something myself but finding a decent one that is in a small case that could be velcroed to the bike would be nice.

I ended up picking up a simple dual port adapter from pep boys auto parts store. It's an all in 1 unit. Works ok. I had to add a shim to one side to keep it from cutting out when I went over bumps.

Just get a decent Y adapter from your local radio store...

But you may want to think about hardwiring these devices in,  makes a much neater install :) (All my stuff is hardwired :) )
