3m Paint Defender
« on: June 27, 2013, 12:13:44 pm »
I spotted this product from 3m that claims to protect paint for one year. When it starts to go bad, peel it off and reapply- usually once a year.   A can costs about 25 bucks, and I assume you could get at least 4 applications from one can.

I recall someone mentioning 3m clear sheets, but it could have been this spray on protector. Has anybody tried this spray product on the tank or the bags?

Just saw a commercial for this last night. Looks pretty easy and of course the commercial makes it appear to be easily applied. Wonder what real world experience is? Seems like it would almost make the films obsolete?

product works well but the outcome varies.  prep is key.  gotta mask off and cover EVERYTHING as the overspray will stick to everything.  I will be spraying my tank and JK wrangler hood and will let you know how it turns out.

I'd assume that unless you have the dealer do it before you pick it up new it probably a waste.  The paint is so soft that it's already all chipped up just by riding home.   :)
