Advance Sport Touring Side Bag LED Light Install
« on: June 02, 2017, 06:17:10 pm »
Good afternoon all,  In the midst of installing the  side bag LED light kit from AST and ran into a snag with the only two loose red wires.  The instructions say to connect to the resistor but show no pic or even hint what or where it is.  I tried to get an answer from Ryan from AST, but no phone number and he hasn't responded to my email. Has anyone done this install and can shed some light?  Thanks, Brian.   >:(

I suspect his sidelights fit multiple motorcycles?
If so, might not be possible to show all.
Resistor?

Look at his site.
Many of his information is on the site as video's.

No such luck on the site with an install video like he has on the rear LED brake light.

The instructions I read, refer you to Fig. 27. The white object is called a converter in the video.
I suspect AST means the red wire coming off that component. It may have a resistor inside the white insulation.

That would be my best guess.

Go ahead, hook it up...what's the worst that could happen?   >:D

In this video:

At 0:45, and 1:55, and at 4:02 (the actual connection) , he calls it the converter.

I'm guessing the resistor is in there. If you look at the shape of the heat shrink, it has the outline of a high watt resistor.
I hope that helps.

The 'white object' is an insulated resistor. That is what you put on the red leads.
