aerostich thermometer....

The older model had a different sensor now.
Used to look like:

But now looks like:

The OCD side of me doesn't like change.  Is there any cons to the new design?  Plus it doesn't say out door any longer.  "Indoor and panel".
Used to be a popular model.

I bought a very similar piece at Pep BOys a month or so ago, for $10 bucks, IIRC. Very cheap, big letters, shows Fahrenheit in/out, and time, and it works great. Probably not waterproof, though. If I ride in rain, I try to plastic bag it, or just stow it away (Velcro). But if it ruins, I'm only out $10 bucks.

Oh man....I was on such autopilot looking at form factor...  I didnt catch the celcius only.  Oh well....its only $5 shipped.
I will either learn celcius or use it for target practice.  Lol...

It's just a sensor... It can go almost anywhere out of sight.  I'd be more concerned about it having the correct feature set and the display having the correct form factor/size for drop in replacement or new fitment.

You are correct.  I meant that I had been searching for quite a while, and my autopilot stopped looking at the right stuff, and focused on that "black box with a string attached."  lol... :-[

At least it was only a $5 oops.

Try the one from Pep Boys. Probably also found at Autozone/Advance/O'Reily's. I put mine on my KLR, and zip tied the sensor to the underside of my right handlebar, near the throttle tube. Works great, and appears to be unaffected by engine heat or sunlight. I can even read it without my glasses!

I had the older design Aerostich unit the OP posted, on my C14. It was never considered an outside thermometer. I had to seal up the head unit to keep the rain out. I used electrical tape wrapped around the outside edges and Velcro tape on the back to attach it. Adding the two types of tape helped keep it sealed and allowed for easy attaching on my dash. I ran the probe down and tie strapped it onto the front brake block just below the fairing. The unit worked trouble free for the 2-3 years I had it mounted in quite a few rain rides. Some were all out monsoons, but it kept working as intended. Although it was susceptible to sun black out until cooled down under motion. But so was the dash panel for the bike. I would sometimes drape a white towel over the seat and dash to keep the sun heat off the bike. Anyway the battery was going dead about the time I traded the bike in. So I just removed the unit and tossed it, since I had no use for it anymore. I do not remember if it changed from F to C because I only used it on F. But it was something like $10, and worked great.
