After Market Windscreens and bugs....
« on: April 07, 2012, 09:17:52 pm »
One annoyance with my C14 is with bug management - specifically how they tend to accumulate inside the windscreen. Do the aftermarket windscreens do a better job of
bug management ? Do the different design approaches to the leading edge design versus the stock windscreen make a difference?
I don't mind cleaning the outside of the windscreen but it tends to be a PIA (pain in the a$$) to have to clean both sides every time - especially with the
bug population in the Central CA area.

I have a Cee Bailey ultra domed and I get bugs on the lower inside of the shield. If wind goes there so will bugs.

I just installed a V-Stream on my 2012 and so far (200 miles worth) I'm very impressed, especially with how it eliminates wind noise and buffeting. The temp was only in the high 30's, low 40's on the ride so there weren't a lot of bugs but I would have to say that the V-Stream is a definite improvement over stock.

If wind can get there, so can the bugs.  Doesn't matter what windscreen you use, barring the installation of some sort of wind dam between the bottom of the windscreen and the plastic, bugs will still commit suicide in this unreachable area.

I have a V Stream installed and I love it..  My Kawasaki bug swatter is very effective at finding and killing the bugs.

I have found cleaning the area under the screen to be fairly easy using a terry towel and sliding it between the shield and the bike and tugging the towel back and forward to clean the area thats hard to reach by hand.

We have Love Bug season starting this week in Florida and its gonna be a rough few weeks,   but it wont stop me from riding.    Here is a picture from last season.
