Beemer Buddies (Original Buddies)
« on: January 26, 2012, 09:56:58 pm »
I searched for Beemer Buddies before posting. Didn't find anything, so advance apologies if this has been covered previously.

A couple of weeks ago several of us went for a ride and one of the group had installed Beemer Buddies on his mccycle. SJ and I were both impressed with them, and have since both ordered. Mine came in today and I quickly installed on my 2010 - it took all of about 5 minutes.

One of the issues I've dealt with is my hands are a little large for the OEM grips, and these seem to provide a great solution. They are a neoprene pad that simply (and quickly) adhere to the stock grip, wrap, and then use a hook and loop tab to further secure. Being neoprene, they should last a good long time, are water repellent, and will not interfere with the grip warmers - other than maybe taking an extra minute or two to pass through the heat. Nor do they interfere with my throttle rockers, so another plus.

I haven't ridden with them yet, but just sitting on the bike and holding the grips, I believe it will make a big improvement in my riding comfort. Also,  those that are irritated by the "buzz" in the grips (not me BTW) may find this to be a quick mod for improvement.

Here is the link - www.originalgripbuddies.com or call 518-461-3003 or email info@originalgripbuddies.com.

FYI - I am not affiliated with this product in anyway, other than ordering them, and now installing on my bike.

Enjoy.

The inventor/owner of the company pops in here from time to time.  We had a nice chat several weeks ago when he called with questions about COG. Seems like a nice guy.

 ^-^ Hi Guys!

As Owner/Author of the Original Grip Buddies, I would like to welcome cog-onlne.org forum members to my new website. We just finished it, and there is a wealth of information about myself, my neoprene comfort grips, and my company.

The link to visit me is http://originalbeemerbuddies.com/

I have many loyal customers from all over the world who have acquired my grips and really love them. Last week I was on the motorcycle podcast "Sidestand Up", and that January 17, 2012 interview is archived and can be listened to anytime here: http://www.talkshoe.com/talkshoe/web/talkCastCustomAds.jsp?masterId=64458&cmd=tc

Welcome to the forum, Dave - glad you dropped in to say hi!  I really like your wrap-around idea and look forward to trying them.

Thanks, Chip. My audience has always been the serious Sport Touring motorcycle hobbyist, so I'm sure I'll be right at home with this crowd. I've probably sold at lest 30-40 of my Original Grip Buddies to Concours owners, and they have been a very appreciative and loyal group. It's really not hard to respond effectively to the market place of motorcyclists, as long as you provide a quality product, at an affordable price, and back it up with superior customer service.

I have 3 simple rules I live by:

1. Take care of the customer
2. Take care of the customer
and,
3. Take care of the customer

There's no way you can go wrong as long as you live by those 3 simple rules when you produce and sell a quality consumer product like mine.

Again, thanks for the warm welcome, and I look forward to a lot of great give and take with the cog-online.org membership

Best,

Dave R.

Welcome Dave. Your product looks decent and I might check them out for myself. I added them to our Farkle vendor directory already. So I have already seen on your web site that your located in Saratoga. Your pretty close for me. We even had an overnight un-rally in Saratoga  last year. But anyway, again welcome.

I got your order, and the grips will go out right away. Thanks for the order, James, I am sure you will like the result. At any rate, I would appreciate your posting once you get them and are able to give them a 100 miles or so to tell everyone here what you think.

Thanks again for the order, and I will look forward to your comments.

I got them on my C14 and glad I got them. Arthritis had made my hands hurt holding the smaller grips, these are better.

Just a comment, Rep. It took me a long time to figure out how to order. You have to go to the product guide section. Maybe you should put in an order button. Maybe it's just me....JMHO.

gsun-

Thanks for your idea. I will take your suggestion under advisement. The problem is that I waited forever to have the guy who was originally supposed to do the website do his thing, and then had to take over writing it myself in order to get it done when he let me down and pooped out. Consequently, I am too close to it sometimes to see things like you observed. I think you are 100% right in your observation, and I will figure out  way to make ordering more intuitive.

Thanks again gsun.

Many others have found them to be an ideal solution for handlebar comfort and control issues (see the testimonial section of my website).  I got your order, and your grips will go right out. Looking forward to your ride report.

One thing to note, I have the throttle tamer and it is just a tad larger than the stock tube.  Rep asked me to measure the circumference of both grips and I noted the throttle was about 1/8" larger than the clutch side.  Rep did ask if I was sure and when I got the buddies in I can tell the throttle side doesn't go completely around the buddy like the clutch side.  No biggie to me, but just a heads up for those with the throttle tamer.  But as always, YCMV

Just a short note to say that even though you show a 1/8" difference in the two sides, my neoprene is designed to easily be stretched to accommodate that difference. In other words, if one side is stretched more than the other side, it is perfectly acceptable, and you should not notice any appreciable difference 10 minutes down the road when you're riding.

I purchased a set of these and figured I would just give a brief opinion.  They were well packaged with great instructions.  They were shipped in a very timely manner and the customer service was OUTSTANDING.  I had the other foam grips and they worked fine but felt a little too mushy.  I have heated grips on the RT and it took a little longer to get through the others in comparison to the Beemer Buddies.  The texture helps with adding a little more feel as well.  They are very comfortable for those looking to add some thickness for whatever personal reason.

These look fantastic. My biggest complaint with grip puppies is when it rains. These don't appear to have the sponge problem. I will be ordering very soon. Very excited.

You are 100% correct. I have many very satisfied ADVrider clients who have found that my Original Grip Buddies are just the thing to solve the dilemma of skinny, uncomfortable grips. You can see many of their testimonials if you go to my site here:

Thanks for mentioning that.
