Brian's mirrors
« on: July 24, 2011, 11:14:58 am »
Each time I see Brian's bike I see his wide angle mirrors and want some. Brian, always so nice, says there off a Ford F150 pickup. I have been to a lot of Ct. Ford dealers and they can't help me. SO Brian I'm going to be in RI Monday can you tell me where you got them?Or what year truck? a Part number?     Thanks Wayne

They are made for an F150, but it is not a Ford product. They are $6 worth of the finest Chinese plastic available at Pep Boys! I found them in a bubble pack and gave them a try- they are fantastic. Unfortunately they are also really cheap and the mirror faces are starting to get dull now. Time for a new set but I will wait a week or so to give you a head start just in case Pep Boys only has one set left.....  ;D

By the way, they come with double faced tape to mount them; it is really difficult to get them placed exactly right in the <maybe> two tries you get with that stuff. I mounted mine with patches of hook 'n loop material (Velcro) so they can be moved easily.

I have a 2011 GTR and thought of mounting a set of mirrors I had on my 01' Chevy Silverado. I also got them at Pep Boys. They stuck to the bottom of the existing mirrors and were convexed. There is a spot just inside of the GTR mirrors that I think they would fit perfectly. Do you have any pics of this mirror setup on your bike?

Wayne,

I stopped by the local Pep Boys specifically to look for those mirrors and they do not have any. In fact, everything they had in stock was very thin- they did not have anything that had enough depth to attach it to the stock C-14 mirror housings at all. Sorry.

I also took a look on-line and did not see the type that I have listed anywhere. The closest thing looks like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Auxilary-Wide-Angle-Side-View-Mirror-Medium/dp/B000ALJYEW

I have not seen a set of those type mirrors in person so am not sure they would work either.

Check this link...  http://www.autobarn.net/auxwidmir.html

They come in 3 different sizes..  I have a pair but do not recall the size... :-[

Anyway (for me..) they improve my rearview dramatically when used to "complement" the existing mirrors..

I have the exact mirror. Believe it or not, I found the best price at Camping World.

I ordered a pair on eBay, form Hong Kong for 4.00, each inc. shipping. They work great, I painted them flat black. It took 3 weeks to get them. They look like they belong on a Connie. Now Brian, I have 2 things for you to see at Lake George!
