This is either the same one or similar to the one I bought: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kawasaki-07-08-ZX-6R-08-11-ZG1400-Chrome-LED-Tail-Light-II-Turn-Signal-Clear-/221016011872?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item337594b460&vxp=mtr

I have this one too, I've had it for a couple years now and no issues!  :great:

Question for ya, guys - I followed the link and bought the same one. Just pulled the tail apart...silly question: do I need to cut/splice, or does the plug it comes with plug in somewhere?  I can't seem to find where it terminates under the seat.  Looks like it goes into a larger, main wire harness...maybe I'm blind, too!  :)

Any help is appreciated!  Thanks in advance.

The plug is tucked into a large rubber boot. Trust me it's in there. The new unit plugs in to the OEM harness in the same place as the OEM tail light. The yellow signal light wires need to be spliced in.

Where exactly is it? Under the toolbox? I'm ready to just cut and solder...ugh.

Looking at the shop manual, schematics, it doesn't show it...and the tail removal/install doesn't show it either.

I'm a 'tard I guess... thanks  :)

If I remember it's behind the ECU in the tail, so you will have to remove the tool box and flip the ECU out of the way.

OK, I'm going in.....again!

Thanks Jonathan - if I don't find it, I'm cutting and soldering...which I can do in 2 minutes.  :)

Remove the seat, remove the plastic cover -2 screws - remove the tool box and fuse box 4 screws inside the tool box - move the ECU out of the way (pull back and up - disconnect nothing) the wiring bundle and connector to the tail light is located in the tail in a rubber boot.

Also located in the rubber boot is the rear accessory plug which can come in handy for other projects too. ( 2 loose bullet connectors )

To those of you who bought the brake light with integrated turn signal, does yours use the top row of led's for the stop / parking lights and the bottom row for turn signals?

This is how mine works and I don't care for it.  I was thinking both rows would function as brake / parking lights then flash yellow when using the turn signal.....

Thanks.

Mine uses all

Where did you get yours?

I hate the way mine works and want both rows to illuminate under all circumstances.

Thanks

Mine uses a field of evenly distributed red LEDs which all function as tail and stop lights and in between the red LEDs are a field of yellow which act as turn signals. So the entire unit lights up, no matter what you are doing.

I bought mine off ebay also.

If either of your purchases isn't too old do you mind linking me the exact one you bought?

PM if you'd rather.

Thank you. :))

I couldn't find mine either, however the one I purchased used all the led's not just a row for each.  I also got the smoked tail light.  Very nice indeed.   ;D
