Custom CNC'd Rear Racks
« on: December 12, 2013, 09:01:30 pm »
Here ya go fellas...

This "prototype" for my bike was solely an aesthetic exercise. Made from 3/8" 6061 plate aluminum. I'm still looking for a good local powdercoater/anodizer to hook up with for future parts. I just etched/primed & painted this one then engraved it. Thought the bird looked cool-

I've got the machine and the program to crank these out so I'm just putting my feelers out there. Anyone interested in having one custom made? C'mon ZG, you gotta be good for one! ;D
Prices will be VERY reasonable, but would depend on size & finish...
If someone wanted a bare blank like in the first couple pics, I'd do 'em for say $75 shipped to the lower 48.
Some of you may want to powdercoat or drill specific hole locations to your own liking?
I can slot, drill, engrave, shape, or extend the length to order-
Just give a shout if you're interested.

There ya' go, fixed up the offer you made to Jay....

Looks like someone has a Bridgeport or equivalent type knee mill and is looking for things to feed it. :-)

Here ya go fellas...

 :)) :))

One of these custom done then anodized GOLD with a big ZG engraved on it would look pretty tasty... Especially hanging off the back of a passion red C14.

Yes Brian, whenever I start to starvin' is when my Bridgeport gets hungry...:beerchug:

I never use my rack, so I've been looking for something smaller to replace it that has the same profile at the front, but that barely covers the brake light at the rear. The second picture, the smooth plate, looks like it may be the ticket. What does it look like from the rear?

Hey Jonathan, that's exactly why I made this rack...

I don't have or use a trunk, and I never strap anything to the rack so just I wanted something smaller than the plastic stock piece. This pattern mimics the lines of the taillight with a slightly radiused "V" at the trailing edge. I haven't measured, but I'd say it extends about 1/2 to 3/4" over the taillight.

I can make them shorter(or longer) for anybody that has specific requests... but to my eyes, and purely for aesthetics, this size is just right.

Hope these pics give you a better idea of the size & how it looks mounted-

Hate blowin' up my own thread, but here's a couple more pics.

Hopefully these give a better idea of the overall proportions and how it looks in relation to the size of the bike.
I think this shape looks good but it's only what I wanted for my bike. Again, I can size/alter the shape however you want it-

Oh I get it. These pics are all of the same plate. I'll have to see if I can add it to my Christmas list.

Customer wanted the "Don't Tread on Me" snake so I drew up this design.  :great:

Happy upcoming New Year y'all! :beerchug:

What do you charge for a custom engraved one like that?

The customer was fine with me painting this one; price was $120/shipping included.

I don't really recommend painting because of blemishes & possible durability issues with the finish, so this is what I offer...

Powder coated/anodized with custom engraving = $150 shipped.

Powder coated/anodized without engraving = $100 shipped.

Or as I said before, unfinished brushed-aluminum blanks for $75.
