Cannot find accessory leads
« on: September 10, 2018, 10:04:48 pm »
After it being suggested I connect my GPS to the accessory leads, which I was told were on the left handlebar side under the trim, I dove in and removed said trim.

Can someone point them out to me in the photos attached?

Here's a link with pics to both front and rear acc. leads (thanks Fred!)...

From what I recall after using mine in the front, it should be under this boot... http://www.pbase.com/fredharmon/image/82721876

They're in a black plastic (soft) boot and mine got pushed way down and to the left front. Had to reach in there and just "feel around."

Bingo, found them thanks to those pics! I had to hunt for them on my '17.

Thanks for your help!

Next question.

I assume I can go to an Autozone and buy these connectors to crimp on to the GPS wire. Is there a particular size I need?

pretty much there is only one common automotive 'bullet" size, but depending in the wire you wanna crimp it on, it will differ... snip 1" off one of the wires, and take it with you if you have no clue on wire gage sizes... and have them match it to a crimp on...

but, I'll just say from experience with my Garmin wire harness, the wires are much smaller gage than the connectors are made to crimp to, I think most crimp ons go down to 20-22 awg, and the wires on my harness are super tiny, I ended up crimping, and soldering them.

Thanks for the tip! Looks like I'll have to dig out my soldering iron
