Christmas in March !!!
« on: March 09, 2016, 12:54:19 am »
The first of many presents arrived today.

I'm now the proud new owner of a 47L top case with a bright lime green cover. :)

I can't post photos.  Files are too big and I can't figure out how to make them smaller.  Very annoying!

You will find it on the Kawi site. Made by Givi of course but exclusive to Kawi.

About the Kawi website : Is it just me or what? I find it strange that when you go on the site, you are asked for the year and model of your bike. When I do that I'm not finding much in terms of accessories for my 2015 Connie, but when I look at other year models, I find a bunch of stuff.  For instance my new top case is listed under the 09 model,  yet Kawi didn't have a green Connie in 09 so how can they be selling those colours for that year?  Not only does it not make any sense but it's also not user friendly.

Ah well, the important thing is that I got my case.

That's weird, I thought Kawasaki changed the topcase for the 2015 model ?

Yes they did.  This is the 2009 model.  I prefer it's look because it has the fins like on the saddle bags.  And strangely enough when you look up the accessories for this case, they have a green cover for it even though there wasn't a green C14 in 2009.

Kawasaki sells a "one Key" conversion for these bags that allows it to be set up (by you, not a locksmith) so that the bike key will open this box as well.

It's only for the 2015/16 models.

Do a search for "one key" to get the part numbers.... depends if you have a "A" or a "B" key (they tell you how to figure which you have)

I bought it only to find out it doesn't work on my 2010.... Luckily dealer took it back.

I saw that but thought it wouldn't work since the box I bought is the 2009 model.  But now I'm thinking it may not have anything to do with the box but with the key fob. I'll definitely look into it.  I guess it's worth asking the dealership.

You should be able to telll by looking at the back of the lock set.  On my 2010 it was 2 screws inside the box that released the whole handle assemble.  The latch system comes out and on the back you will see the back of the lock cylinder.  If its square like mine then it wont work.  if the back of the lock more rectangular then it will likely work. Pictures should show the difference.

The dark square on the right is the back of my 2010 lock (cam removed), the clean looking one on the left is the new style that comes in the kit.

This is what the back of my latch assembly looks like.  You can see the cam on the back of the square lock.

Posting pictures on this forum is the most frustrating experience EVER.  I've been a member of several other forums and never had as much problems posting photos.  If I try to make them bigger, the system refuses them as being too big.  So I'm now using photobucket but I'm not finding it very user friendly. This is the best I can do.  Sorry

Ah !!!

Thanks Gumby !!!!!!!!!

So, the picture I just posted is Soupy's lowering links and adjustable quick stand...  Not sure about that one.  I find it bulky but I think it would be ok if painted black.
