Bob,

I totally agree with all of your points.  I am basically kicking around the idea so that I do not have to buy a Goldwing, Electra Glide, Cross Country Tour or whatever bike that would provide such a luxurious backrest for an annual 4 day trip and a few 2 day trips throughout the year.  I currently have an E55 and it is a great box, however the backrest leaves a LOT to be desired in comparison to the Corbin.  I have had an Electra Glide and a Wing but I just enjoy the spirited acceleration that the C14 offers and I am very comfortable on it.  It is a lot cheaper to buy the Corbin and install it when the need arises.  As far as looks it is large but I can live with it.  I do not do any spirited riding with my wife on-board so that is not an option.  Basically I like the C14's acceleration and set up for touring so for me the Corbin may be a viable option.  Looking for additional input.  tks

Thanks Bob - good info.

I seriously doubt I'd be leaving it on all the time - probably switch it up with a Givi Business Case for my day-to-day travel and client visits (http://www.giviusa.com/cases-top-case/monokey/B36N-BUSINESS-CASE). Although it would be nice for it to have a modular mounting system like the Givi.

If I do go Corbin, I'd remove the armrests (no two up for me) and add these for tie-downs: http://www.aerostich.com/packing-it-in/more-packing-options/straps-bungees-and-accessories/bungee-loops.html

Much appreciate everyone's feedback on this.

I have the large Corbin trunk on my 2008.  I only use the large trunk on 2up trips.  The main reason for getting it was the back rest.  Wanted something that my wife would be comfortable with.  I also liked the fact that the trunk is bolted in making it feel a little more secure.  But it sure is huge and heavy.  Unlike others, I can tell when I have it on particularly at parking lot speeds.

Saw a Corbin trunk mounted on a silver 2011 Concours at Toy Ride today. It looks like it is very well made, the color matches well, and it was very solid. As others have said, it is huge. It probably has as much space as a Gold Wing or Ultra Classic topbox. Did I mention it looks massive on the back of the Concours. Oh, and one more thing, it is very large. :)
