Finished trailer hitch.
« on: July 08, 2011, 05:55:15 am »
Just bought the 09' a month ago and liked riding solo but one thing was missing. My DOG! Everyone told me I needed a side car, But i bought a motorcycle for carving not a car. So I set out to find info on how to make a hitch for the C14, but the only company that has done it doesn't post pics and it seem no one in these forums has tried yet. My dad just built one for his Bmw using a design by unigo, so using the same concept i set out to design one for my connie. After two weeks of design and fab i finally just completed the hitch and mounted it.
I will post pics this weekend with descriptions of my design which requires no modifications to the bike except four bolt holes thru the plastic inner rear fender. Now just time to install the trailer wiring harness on the bike and to complete the one wheeled dog trailer. Nothing more cool then a dog enjoying the curves too.

I would love to see some pictures. I've been thinking of making one myself to pull a Uni-go trailer, for when the wife travels with me.

while I think having the dog along is great, what effect do you think being in the exhaust gas stream will have on his brain after a day of riding???  :-X

Sorry been a little busy building, riding and hitting moto shows. Here are the pics of what i have done.

This is the one of two mount under the seat, It's 1/4 inch plate cut and bent to fit.

Second under the tank and replaces the thin galvinized one under the seat. Same 1/4 inch plate with a lower piece welded on to fill gap.

You can see where the mounts come threw the plastic fender under the seat. 4 bolts.

The left and right support go to the inside fender of the rear passenger foot pegs were i used 45mm longer bolts to hold the 1/4 inch plate welded to 3/4 tubing. All three supports meet at a 2 1/4 inch square tubing to accept a 2 inch receiver and add a Kawasaki receiver plug to clean things up.

Build a trailer from some left over Kz1000 parts.

Attach to bike for fitment. And YES that is a 2008 zx-14 four into two D&D exhaust.

The trailer isn't even finished yet and my dog is ready to ride.

All that is left is to hook up wiring, enclose the cockpit and direct exhaust away and we are ready to ride.
