Kawasaki rear top case mounting help
« on: February 18, 2015, 01:30:31 am »
Can anyone help me with information/advise on the mounting of a Kawasaki rear top case. Checking on purchasing a used one. Seller indicates that it would need a mounting base plate that would not come with the case. The only mounting I found so far was what appeared to be a complete bracket assembly. Price was in excess of $350. Whoa! Is there just a base plate that would attach to the existing stock luggage rack assembly.

Someone correct me me if I'm wrong. The top case that Kawasaki sells is a Monolock system and is made by Givi (just branded Kawasaki.) You should be able to go to Giviusa.com and get a monolock mounting plate and it should work just fine. They're roughly $65 on the website.

Depends on year if you need entire bracket or just top bracket. I purchased Kaw/Givi top case in 2012 with my new Concours and it came with just the top plate. You replace existing top plate.  If you have older Connie this may not be the same.  Make sure you can get the plate for your model before you spend on a top case.  Givi has quite a few arrangements for their different cases I believe.

You are posting in the C-14 section, so I assume your bike is a C-14, not a C-10, but I don't see any indication in your sig line or profile. If the case you buy doesn't come with a mounting plate, consider Philsfarkles, he makes a nice rack for Givi cases (be sure to check his site for monoKEY vs monoLOCK applications), I believe his are for the monoKEY system.

This is a photo of the kawasaki mounting plate, it is essentially a Givi monoLOCK trunk. It consists of the mounting plate with the various mounting holes and a top plate to cover the holes.
