If you are talking about the GIVI SR410 mounting rack, then yes the instructions really suck, and the design is could have been simplified to make installation much easier at a lower cost to the consumer.  Anyway, I refused to modify my new C14 just to install this mounting rack so I purchased additional hardware and installed it without modifying my bike and have been using it with my E52 topcase for about a year with no issues.    I offer supplemental installation instructions as a download on my Home Page for anybody who wants to use my installation method.  Go to www.masscog.org and click on my Tips & Things page.    Good Luck  Kevin  COG 145
