Goodbye Bazooka!!
« on: September 02, 2011, 10:41:25 pm »
Finally made it home for the weekend and installed the Dale Walker Holeshot slip-on.  I can't belive the difference in size & weight.  I love the sound...nice deep rumble at idle, but not obnoxious (IMHO)
I'll reserve judgement on the db killer until I get a good test ride in the morning   >:D

I forgot to mention...whapping the throttle to hear your new pipe bark will make rtv shoot 30 feet out the exhaust pipe  :))
I guess my first task after riding will be to re-apply high temp and refit, then let it sit overnight to harden.

This is the Dale Walker Holeshot slip-on.  The previous owner (Baggerdude) had it but put the Muzzy duals on his bike.
I did a little over 100 miles Saturday and couldn't keep from twisting the throttle to hear her growl.  When I get back from this project in Ohio I'll probably remove it to re-apply high temp RTV to the joints, and leave it as-is for now.  I have the db killer, but it looks like you have to drill the underside of the outlet tip to secure it.  I like the sound right now.  If it becomes obnoxious i'll install it later.

Looks remarkably familiar, Bruce.   :)  Congratulations on the installation.  I knew you'd love it.

Bike looks better than with the oem potato launcher, saves tons of weight, looks better, sounds tough/rich, feels like it's faster (?), looks better.  Did I already say that?

You won't need the DB buster.  I just bought it cuz I had Area P duals on my ZX14 and could not bare the noise .... ear plugs mandatory.  But, the Holeshot can sounds "just right" IMO.  No drone, no resonance.

Enjoy the new can, Bruce.

Dale offers 2 different cores in his cans. One is more street, the other more race. I was just wondering which  one you have. I find something interesting here. Dale offers an optional heat shield, V&H include the shield. Both offer optional db -killing inserts. I think both "options" should be included in the price of both these pipes.

Not to step on Bruce's post .... but, since I was the one who ordered the exhaust, I tho't I'd answer your questions.

This set up is a "street" can ... the race version would be toooooo loud according to Dale.  The DB killer is an option if the purchaser feels the can is too loud.  Everyone is different.  Some like more noise than others.  Hence, the option to buy the DB killer separately.

The heat shield option (IMO) depends on how one mounts the bike, size of boot and other variables.  Some folks never touch the pipes, others do.  I have Muzzy's full duals on my C14 and no heat shields ..... no marks on the pipes.

Just my take on your questions.  But, yes .... I suppose Holeshot could include both for an additional $75, and some would leave them in the box uninstalled.
