Got My Tech Spec Tank Grippers On Today
« on: November 02, 2017, 08:30:17 pm »
And I like them! Nice feeling of greater control with the knees lightly tucked against the tank. No more sliding around on the seat, or worrying about wearing a hole in the paint.

Also got my new personalized plate today. Maybe not the most original thing I could have come up with, but I'm proud to declare it.

I've had my new-to-me 2009 for about a month now. I added the National Cycle windshield and the V&H CS One pretty much immediately. I had my eye on these tank grips, so here they are.  Got my Mobil 1 10W-40 MC oil and M!-110 filter in, along with the K&N.

Can't think of anything else I want at the moment except maybe an ECU flash.

Hi,
They help, especially if you are wearing one of the "fabric type" road gear! (MOTOPORT?) ;D

I do think they are a little bit to much $$$ for what they are.... ::)

But welcome to C14 after market goodies!!! :truce:

What a beautiful machine in red. I have silver grey that I love. But in a year or two when the greens come down in price, that's my dream color. I've been wanting tank grips, but haven't gotten around to it.

I like how she sits on a rug....so does mine.  :)

Oil choice is always a personal thing, but I've been using M1-110 filters and M1 oil in most of bikes and cars, for a decade now, and love it.  One of these days I may splurge on a Blackstone OIl analysis, but I feel confident I'm using good lube and filtration.

Good Choice.  :great:

Nice. I have a 2014 in the same color and they Tech spec bag covers look good to me, too. They're very effective at (most) deflecting boot scuffs.  :great:

ghostwriter,
The oil analysis is most useful for long term history. Unless something drastic is happening inside your engine one test only establishes the baseline. I send a sample every time I change the oil and chart the changes. It's well worth the cost IMHO.

Nodesurfer,
I have that same tecspec kit on my 2011.
But, I sometimes wear mesh riding pants in the summer when it's hot, and I noticed that they were scratching up the front half of my sidecovers, too. So I bought their extra kit, and I was able to cut my own shapes and add more to protect those areas, too.

The best thing about this stuff, aside from protection of the paint, is the grip it gives me when squeezing the tank when I'm riding twisties! It really helps.

Thanks for the reminder that I need to grab a set of these.

I noticed after my long road trip that I'm starting to wear down the paint a bit on the sides from my knees on the plastics.

These will cover it up well.

thanks,
These are made with a releasable adhesive......you can peel the grips off with no damage to paint.  I've switched these pads on 2 bikes before selling to transfer to new bikes.  Works well!

Well, decided to bite the bullet and get the (rather pricy) Tech Spec Tank Grippers.  Installed yesterday -- so far, seem pretty good.

Took me a while to bite the price bullet too, but oh boy was it worth it! Have had them on now for about two weeks and can't believe I went that long without them! Don't use my saddlebags often enough to merit getting them for those too, but I still might since they're so good

I transferred mine from one bike to another and a couple of them won't stick now. Yes, everything was kept clean, any suggestions on on how to make them sticky again?
