Title: I'm getting Connied in the morning! Farkle update
Post by: smooth_operator on March 11, 2013, 12:20:48 pm
Well tomorrow is the big day. After 3+ years of slut lusting for a Connie, I'm finally picking up my own in the morning!! :great: :great: :great:

I can't remember being this excited since I was a child. I've become quite a crumudgeon these past few years so it's great to be looking forward to something so much.

For all you who dogged me for my pitifully short farkle list, here's an updated one. :popcorncouple:

Delkevic Tri Oval slip on
front and rear Fender Extenders
Phil's Rack
Givi E55 Topcase
Canyon Cages
AST Pull Back Risers
Throttlemeister

Know it's not much yet but I'm getting there! :motonoises: :motonoises: :motonoises:

I'd like to send out some major love to all the people who have helped me on this site.  :c017: :-* :bravo_2: 8)  I can't begin to imagine all the mistakes I would have made had it not been for all your expertise. This is truly a great site with truly great people. Thank you all!!! :campfire: :allhail: :allhail: :victory: :victory: :beerchug: :beerchug:

Tru-Dat.  This place is a goldmine of wisdom.  I lurked here for a while when shopping for a new ride.  I bought with confidence knowing it was a great ride with great farkles and kindred support.  The support hasn’t let me down once.

A quick poll:

How many miles do you think Smooth_Operator will put on his bike today?

I'm guessing 250.

Oh crap, Gumby went and got all scientific on me.   :D

I think science is out the window on this one.  This one is about emotion and passion.  He's not going to let a little cooler temps or some rain slow him down.

 ;D ;D ;D

:57:  156 Miles the first day. But it wa snowing on and off here in Southeast Michigan, so I hope everyone cuts me a little slack.  First impressions in one word?  WOW!!  what a bike! This is by far the fastest and nicest bike I've ever ridden. Even with keeping her at 4k or below the performance was exhillerating. Steering felt great. Shifting was great. Brakes are outstanding. Balance and feel top notch. Rode around downriver for a while then jumped on I75 south and got off south of Monroe and just cruised some country roads. Had not idea where I was going. I didn't care. It was just so great to finally ride my Connie, the girl of my dreams (sorry honey). After less than 5 minutes after leaving the dealership I knew I had made the right decision in purchasing a Connie. THERE WAS NO BUYER REMORSE WHATSOEVER!! Nor will there ever be. I'm hooked. I'm in love.

What I didn't like: Seat pushes you into tank too much. A Laam redo will take care of that. Too much pressure on hands. AST pullback risers are on their way! Thanks Nando!

If anyone is on the fence about Buying a Concours 14, I urge you in the strongest terms possible to go ahead and take the plunge. I just can't tell you how happy I am to finally have my baby home with me. It is a great bike. maybe the bike mags say the bmw 1600 is better but it sure ain't $14000 better. That's an awful lot of farkling to get the bike perfect for me and a few thou left over for gas.  Connies Rule!! :motonoises: :great:

Yeah I know I promised pics but it's stinking snowing again today. supposed to be in mid 40's tomorrow so I'll pull her out and take some shots in the morning. Just have to make sure I take the pics for I go out for a run otherwise I might not ever get to it!! >:D >:D

This bike is some serious fun. Now if it would just warm up a little bit. :49:

My guess was off by 443.9 miles, but if he had Rusty's weather, I would have nailed it. :motonoises: Glad to hear you love her.

Congrats

My first 1000 miles on mine was done in December and January with an average temp of 34.  There's noting Ike a new toy to make you forget about the weather.

Invest in a radar detector, my IRadar has already paid for itself threefold.

Glad you like the bike. No remorse..... Ditto  :great:

Congrats!!  I can honestly say I had the same reaction after 4 years, there is still no regret or remorse!

My 2009 is in for scheduled service and new tires at the moment and I am going nuts with anticipation- the honeymoon continues!

It will be a month (and almost 1400 miles) since I picked up my new 2012 C14 this coming Wednesday.

I've loved every minute of it!!!

Funny thing is, me and SO both got our bikes right around the same time, in crummy weather, but who cares, it's a CONNIE!!!

Best. Bike. EVER!
