Got it w/ used bike & is great, particularly after installing original just to try - didn't like that at all but came w/ the deal.  Currently have higher profile tire in the rear giving accurate MPH.  Fit is good for 6'3" - that's me.

I had one and I liked it for around town. Good feel and it really helped getting the feet on the ground. But for distance, I found it a little hard.

What tire are you using on the back...or do you have higher tires on both ends?

How does that ride?

I was wondering what a 1 inch lowering kit plus a higher tire would ride like?

I had a 2010 factory low gel seat on my ZX14, and rode it to the 2011 National at Mt. Snow VT. It was so comfortable that coming back I was able to ride the entire way home stopping only for gas and water and snacks, made it in 8 hours and change, and my butt was comfortable the whole time.

With my big butt, thats saying something good about the low gel seat. Just make sure it is 2010 or later, they changed the padding and gel material in 2010.

The amount a 55 raises the bike is trivial.

It affects handling though, the bike falls in to a turn faster, but its a tail end fall, and I don't like how it affects apex-ing. I prefer a balanced fall in, so would only put a 55 on the back if I could change the profile in the front to match it.

JR,
I am gonna guess you created the chopper effect with a higher rear...however subtle...u being an experienced rider would feel such dynamics in the turns...I bet 90% of folks wouldnt feel a thing...nevertheless, my next question to you is: does it make the ride softer? is the tire wider? does it last longer?

ok, maybe I ll take that back...cause 90% of folks on this forum could be experienced...althoght, some sound like they experienced in the way Jimmy Hendrix meant...Ha ha

I doubt the higher profile makes any difference in ride softness or comfort. Its just a slightly more V shaped cross section with the tire diameter (overall) a tad more than a 50 profile.

I couldn't even use a 55 on my ZX14, with the rear hugger, unless I wanted to fab new mount tabs for the hugger. But then, I am not a fan of 55 profile rears anyway.

And yes, many of the members have far more knowledge than I do, but we all have something to contribute, and discussion brings out more information when opposing viewpoints are discussed.

190/55 vs 190/50 rear tire does cause bike to fall into slow turns faster.  I like it as opposed to when I first got bike w/ OEM tires.  I was returning to the world of biking at the time & couldn't turn worth a darn sometimes going into opposing lane if permitted.  Well, it wasn't me: it was primarily the front OEM tire.  Now actually turn in a little faster than I'd like w/ new Angel ST 120/70 front & 190/55 Michelin rear but won't go back.  55 rear tire is a little more forgiving in rough terrain & puts that low Gel seat up slightly.  I'm 6'3" & fit is very good w/ lowered pegs.  If I were into high speed racing in the curves I'd stay w/ 190/50 rear.  As far as high speed; 190/55 is very stable to well over 100 MPH.

You want the 2010, not the 2009. Big difference in comfort due to gel pad change.

tried the 08 or 09 gel seat, hated it, felt slippery and hard as a rock. was able to return it for a full refund. if the 10+ is better, go that route.
i'm 5'9, on a 55 rear ,

Believe you me when I say: I have tries just about every aftermarket seat, to the tune of big buck losses even though there were some I could return.

I have never seen a comfortable low seat...I am very reluctant to believe there is a comfy low seat, though I want to try one really bad. I guess is a matter of physics...low: not enough material.

If you just look at a low seat on pic, you see that it 'll turn into your butt/the seat pan...in between, the figment of an imagination worth of material...

The Kawa low seat is supposed to be 20mm narrower than the stock seat, if you can imagine that...I know some girls than could swallow that seat if they sat on my bike with a low Kawa seat.

I have the Kawasaki low seat and it is by far the best one I have tried. I bought a Corbin and hated it worse than the stock seat. I bought a Sargent, didn't like it either. Both of those were very hard. I tried a ZX14 seat for a few weeks and actually liked it better than stock. Then I found a good deal on the Kawasaki low gel seat and like I said it's the best I've tried. Not perfect but very good. I've done many 8-10 hour days on it and it works for me.

This is the only place I ever seen this Kawa Low Gel seat...where can one buy it from. My dealer says he can't find and cannot order from UK.

Is there an American vendor that can sell these? ... sorry, but I don't buy things from foreign countries through the internet.

I'd be interested in trying one of these also. Anyone have one in the NY/NJ/PA/DE area that I could just sit on?
