Introduction and a New Hot Weather Windshield for C14
« on: February 04, 2014, 07:23:08 pm »
Introduction

My name is Patrick and I would like to make a proper introduction to the group as a COG industry member with a small business making somewhat unique and specialized motorcycle accessories – you can see our website at copperdawg.com Copperdawg Specialties grew from interest in items that I began to make for one of my motorcycles in 2007 and is continuing now with items for the second generation Kawasaki Concourse C14.

The focus of Copperdawg Specialties is to produce items that are not normally part of the aftermarket for a given make or model of motorcycle. Everything we sale is designed, tooled and produced here in the USA. While our primary capability is producing Factory Paint-Matched bodywork and accessories we also have laser, CNC, welding, machining and plastic forming capabilities. We make and sell our products all over the world and have customers on every continent with the only exception being - Antarctica.

I look forward to meeting and talking with you guys and hearing what you have to say. I will typically research a project for quite a while before committing to it and while a big part of the inspiration for any project comes from my own “wish list” I would love to hear what others with similar experiences have to say.

The C14 SportScreen

With the addition of my personal 2010 Concours a little over a year and a half ago I began to develop several projects that would compliment or enhance the C14 ride experience, at least from this riders perspective. Like any of you who ride in hot climates,
The number one priority for me as a C14 owner was to lesson the buildup of heat behind the stock screen. Like many riders, I bought a second screen and cut it down and while this helped a little I was not satisfied so the idea for a better screen began and the C14 SportScreen you see here and on our website is the result. That's cool CD!  :great:

Do you offer a dark tint option too or only medium tint?

I have a couple sets of bodywork in custom colors, can the main body and nose section be purchased unpainted? If so, what is the cost?

Is there any break in the price if I buy multiple?

Thanks.  :beerchug:

Will the nose cone interfere with other windscreens?

No. The nose cone can stay on and allow you to use a different screen and also, since it is attached using two sided VHB Tape can be removed and replaced very simply.

Nice looking product! I wish you well. Those of us living south of the Mason Dixon line can certainly appreciate air flow during the warm weather season. My cut down shield typically goes on in April, and does not come off until October.

I don't think I'm a prospect, but I certainly do admire those who see a need, and then try to fill it!

Thats a good question Matt. When I was developing this Screen last summer I had three local C14 riders that I either let ride my bike with the prototype or put the screen on their bike for them to experience. One of the bikes that I was particularly interested in was an 08 that had 2 inch risers (don't remember the brand) but I wanted to see if the screen worked with the risers and how it looked. The screen worked with the risers and needed only a slight adjustment of the rotation of clutch mount to clear at full stop. As far as looks go - parked nose to nose with my bike it was hard to see the difference but maybe that was just me.

I said I wasn't a prospect, but in a group buy, I just might reconsider.

I can hear ZG's credit card start to moan! Probably hasn't been used in a couple hours!

Looks really good! Good luck with sales. The price is really not bad.
