OK Thanks to Matt's  donation I was able push back the fear of screwing up and managed to remove the mirror with out much difficulty.

There was no glue on the back just a paper spacer to prevent scraping the silver off the back of the mirror(good news)  I took a hair dyer and heated the plastic and used a plastic pry tool to wedge the edge of the pliable (heated) mirror mount off the mirror.  My Mac won't upload the photos or I would post them so maybe tomorrow.

I was able to work the plastic pry tool to one of the corners  (toward the bike) and the mirror backing plate popped off and I was able to wiggle the mirror out with no damage.  I was surprised how sturdy the mirror and it make me confident that I can do this on my bike with out breaking the mirror.

With the mirror off it was easy to removed the support plastic on the mirror backing and it was just enough space to allow the flashing arrow to sit snugly in place.  The LEDs on the flashing arrow are embedded in the card.  I doubt if you get the raised LED one it would fit.

OK,  I will try to upload some pic tomorrow to give you a better idea but over all I feel confident this will work.

I plan to do the deed on my bikes mirrors this weekend and will document the work.  Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Photos of me successfully prying off the mirror. Using plastic pry tools I got from Harbor Freight.
Photo 1 is the best place to put the pry tool after you heat up (not much) the mirror and the mirror mount. Just insert the tool between the mount and mirror edge and pry up the mirror.
Photo 2  Push the tool when you have a small tip of the tool under the edge of the mirror using a rocking motion to work your way toward the pointed end of the mirror.
Photo 3  When you get the pointed part of the mount off the mirror just wiggle the mirror out of the mount!

Photo 1  Rounding the curve!
Photo 2   The paper on the back of the mirror (scratch protector?)
Photo 3   ridges you have to remove by what ever means.  I used a hot knife with some consequences (look near thumb).

Photo 1: flasher with the last arrow row lit in a dark room,  The paper backing seem not to make much difference regarding the intensity of the light.
Photo 2   without the mirror-plenty bright!  You could not look at these very long!

I finished installing the LED flasher module behind the mirror and it went well.  In general, as published elsewhere the brightness of the flasher during the day was not impressive but at night it was very effective.  I documented the whole install but due to the limitations of the forum will post the critical steps and try to get the entire procedure to you guys via drop box etc...

Removing the mirror cover

1st Photo: Use your fingernails to catch the edge as shown and push in and lift just enough to unclip that side.
2nd and 3rd Photo: Use a flat blade screw driver to unclip the clips at the top.  You can see the clips if you move the mirror a bit.
4th Photo: Perfect!

Remove the mirror assembly by removing the 3 hex screws on the bottom of the mount.

1st Photo:  The mirror mount after the mirror assembly was removed.
2nd Photo: The hole 1/4" I drilled in the mirror mount.  Be very careful not to push the drill through the plastic underneath.  Just take your time and stop when you punch through the aluminum.  Then carefully finish off the hole.
3rd Photo: Thread the flasher module wire through the mounting post of the mirror assembly.
4th Photo: Push the wires through the hole you drilled and use a larger wire (I used a solid copper house wiring wire) and tape the flasher module wire to the end and push the wires into the interior of the faring.
5th Photo:  Reassemble the mirror assembly to the mirror mount adjusting the wires accordingly.

I will post more later when I have more time.

OK for the brain trust!

During the day-not worth a damn.  You can not see the blinking lights in any type of light.

At night kinda cool. Which is why I did the project.  So keep this in mind if you do this project.  I believe the silvering on the mirror is just too think because the LEDs were very bright.

Matt Thanks for your support on this project  Discovery by doing! not by opinon!
