Lighting ideas???
« on: August 11, 2018, 03:57:35 pm »
Looking for ideas for adding turn signals to the front of the mirrors.
Would really like some sequential strips that I could add to the leading edge of each mirror very visible when on yet invisible when not.
2005 C10, 2016 C14 and a work in progress custom V-TWIN pro Street.

best bet is to get creative, and 'roll your own'...
lots of manufacturers, with good and cheap stuff to suit the project...
I think this company has the most, and useable stuff around, pieces parts and support electronics, and splices, connectors, etc.,

I have had good success and like the products from Custom Dynamics.

Good suggestions for light sources.  I've used Custom Dynamics and Superbright as well.

I've wanted to do this project for a few years as well, but have not wanted to tackle the cut and paste nature of what needs doing.
I did this to my Aprilia a few years back, and the results were good:  DRL's in superbright Yellow/Orange, and integrated turns, up high and on the Mirrors.

If you've ever messed with the Mirrors on a C14, the front plastic face actually pops off, but you have to be careful not to bust off the tabs inside.

I'll keep tabs on this thread -- would like to see where you end-up.  :great:

Just wanted to share my recent experience with superbrightleds.com...  I won't order from them, again.

Their pre-sales experience was great.  Pricing was good.  Shipping was fast.  I received exactly what I ordered.

However, the products do not last.  I've had multiple LEDs start to malfunction.  This is definitely a technology where "you get what you pay for".  And since lighting is safety-related, then lesson learned not to skimp out.

Great idea and would like to see something on the leading edge/front facing of the mirrors too!

I know ProjektD has the turn signals integrated into the mirrors setup, so maybe taking that, then adding LEDs to the wires and either drilling or gluing the LEDS from the inside or outside?!? Anyway, keeping an eye on this and thinking about how to leverage the ProjektD setup...
