Motorcycle Larry Passenger Peg Extenders
« on: October 05, 2014, 10:49:18 pm »
I added the Extenders to my C14. Right side hit the heat shield (or whatever it is called). Had to remove it to allow enough clearance. Anyone else have this problem?

No issues here either ... It is about 0.25" away from the exhaust on my 2012.

Suggestion ... Is the peg lower-er rattling? Did you clamp down the screws? I have canyon cages and I added a washer in at the top mounting point to ensure a snug fit.

I had the same problem. I had to stick 2 really thin (.032) stainless steel washers in and really tighten it down to get it to stay off the front muffler cap.

If I have the problem again, I'll take it off and grind the section that is making contact. There is plenty of metal there so it won't weaken the extension.

Hmmmm ... Is there any chance that you mounted the wrong one? There is a left and a right mount ...

Ausie I have the candy Arabian red one too. The right side has more play, so when someone puts foots on pegs, it bends down enuff and back to tap on the exhasust cover. Remove the cover and there is plenty of clearance. I could not find metal washers thin enough  to shim the mounts up. Made some nylon washers. Need to drive it some to see if they rattle. Doesnt look too bad without the ehaust shield.

I was looking at these online and noticed that it states "New design":

"PASSENGER FOOT PEG LOWERING BRACKETS

8018   New design. Fits all model years.   Finally relief for your passenger. They will thank you for the extra leg room. Helps relive hip,..."

Maybe you have the older design?

OK ... photo isn't brilliant ... but after putting 170lbs on the peg ... I am 2mm away from the exhaust. Potentially putting the "shim" washer on top (instead of underneath) probably didn't help. Upshot is that it doesn't appear to hit the muffler. time will tell.
