Title: Motorcycle stands?
Post by: NYbiomed on July 01, 2015, 01:15:14 am
Anybody using these:

http://www.amazon.com/Venom-Motorcycle-Paddock-Universal-Kawasaki/dp/B0077T23IO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1435716575&sr=8-1&keywords=Motorcycle+stands (http://www.amazon.com/Venom-Motorcycle-Paddock-Universal-Kawasaki/dp/B0077T23IO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1435716575&sr=8-1&keywords=Motorcycle+stands)

The price is certainly right, just not sure if they're beefy enough for the C14's portly weight? Will I need spools for the rear too? Other suggestions around $100 for the set?

I have the front one.  The gold plate is in the way and blocks pulling the axle out. (on a C14) :(

Oops, EDIT; ^^^^ Ignore that...wrong stand.  I did shorten the 4 fingers to fit bike better. Works OK.

^^^well that sorta prevents removal of the front wheel, therefore defeating 50% of the purpose...I see the Pitbulls are available, but much more money...like $300 for a set, are spools needed for the rear too?

Hmmm, seems hard to go wrong for $75 shipped for the set...thinking....a guy is selling a set of PitBulls at $200 for the set, maybe it's a worthwhile investment.

I just watched a couple Pit-Bull videos.  Impressive.  A bargain used set might be the way to go.

I have a pitbull still for a sportbike I dont have anymore.

My R1 sat on it and a front stand for a long time.  Solid as a rock, well worth it.  The negatives on the pitbull stands are the shipping fee's because they dont collapse into a smaller box.

Unfortunately my rear stand cant be used for the C14.

I have a stand similar to the one in the OP that will work with the front for a forklift, but I think I Read somewhere that you shouldn't use a front fork lift stand with the center-stand only because it may push it over backwards.

I will be buying the C14 specific rear stand.  It lifts the bottom of the swingarm then a typical front stand can be used, is my recollection of how it works on the C14.

http://www.mjmotogear.com/ (http://www.mjmotogear.com/)  I have one of these stands that is a head-lift, and a fork lift with a conversion kit.  I've found no negatives with this stand and the company seems pretty resonable in prices and the stands seem built pretty well.  No problems.

PIT BULL second to none.   :great:    :great:     :great:    :great:

You get what you pay for type stand!

I had some "decent" Vortex brand stands which are better than most. And they'll work.  But nothing like the PIT BULLs!!!

I have the Pit Bull front stand and would totally recommend it, but yes, it is expensive. I haven't yet found the need for a rear stand as I can get the rear wheel out with the bike on the center stand. That being said, one of these days I may need to do some maintenance that requires me to get one (hopefully not!).

Every bike I own get Pitbull stands.  I use the front pin stand and the rear C14 stand.  I ended up working with Pitbull to improve the C14 rear stand plates to a beefier size and got them the right measurements for a better front pin fitment.  Highly recommended.  Great people and an American company.

So, Pitbull has a specific C14 rear stand? And specific front pins too, can anyone link the correct stands?
Thanks!

You can find the pin size for the front on their "Fitting Chart" http://www.pit-bull.com/fitting-charts.html (http://www.pit-bull.com/fitting-charts.html)
and their "Hybird Head Lift" http://www.pit-bull.com/product/F0100-000.html (http://www.pit-bull.com/product/F0100-000.html)
or "Hybird Dual Lift" will work for the front. http://www.pit-bull.com/product/F0100-200.html (http://www.pit-bull.com/product/F0100-200.html)

These stands work just fine for the price. There is no comparison between these and Pit Bull, but how often do you really need to lift your bike?

Do you think anyone can see the name/brand of stands...?
Where can they be bought?
How much?
If you provide of link, as in a URL, other people can see, review and contrast.

These are the Venom stands you originally asked about. I use them and they work great for what I need.

+1. I followed Gumby's lead when he first posted about the Venoms. They work great.

^^^Ah, gotcha! I couldn't tell...I wound up buying 3 stands for $85 off Craigslist- 2rears, 1 triple tree front...Lockhart-Phillips pair and a no-name rear, we'll see how well they work during a tech day a couple weekends from now. I have to replace a front rotor, then I decided to do both, while I'm there...pads and brake fluids.
Thanks :great:

^^^^ZG I have both types rear stands too, but the forward handle PIT BULL is tops, as nothing is sticking out behind my bike and trying to trip me up!  But forward handle not as good for the track bike (when at the track)......

I don't see the concours on their list of application... how did it fit your bike? Which one specifically?
