Which Givi Top Case luggage rack?
« on: May 21, 2016, 05:58:35 pm »
Anyone know which Givi top case luggage rack will work with my Kawasaki 09 top case?  I need more space when the wife rides.

Post a pic of your case or tell us if it's a 39 or 47 liter.

I ordered the wrong lid once even though I had the size right. It seems they did change em up over the years.

How would I know which size it is?

I'm not much help - but am also curious about the luggage racks ...

I know this is a 49liter factory case - but there is a newer and older one - not sure which you have or which rack to get for that matter....

Thanks Z -  :beerchug:

I'm going to think about going homemade for this before I spend $80. I'll think about it - then I'll spend the $80  :truce:  :)

BTW - that pic is in front of the grocery/deli in Helen. Great place 😋

Since it's a MonoKEY trunk, this will hold it very securely... However it's more than $80. But then again it's 3/8" aluminum instead of plastic.

I think last year Kawasaki changed to the MonoKEY system. Everything depends on which trunk the poster purchased.

Looks like the Monolock.  Phil's Rack will work with the proper adapter.  I believe he will add it to the rack (additional cost) if you order it from him.  Otherwise, either use the plastic piece you already have or buy the adapter discussed the separate thread hyperlinked below. :great:

I have Phil's rack for my Monokey box, but I'm not talking about Phil's racks here (as fantastic as they are).  I'm needing a luggage rack on top of my top case and that's what I bought at the above link.

I have the exact same trunk, It's a Monolock & is a 47 liter Kawasaki factory trunk the same from 2009-2014. 2015 they changed the trunk shape & it's now a Monokey. Phil's adapter for his racks works only with Monokey trunks & will not work with hlh1's trunk. You have to use the adapter PLATE that comes with a Monolock trunk to work on ANY rack. You can get the SW MOTO adapter to use a Monolock trunk on a rack eliminating the need to use the adapter PLATE. As I posted earlier I have a Givi 46 liter luggage rack on my 47 liter factory trunk which is the same as hlh1's & works perfect. Sorry to be long winded but I wanted to make sure the correct information is out there to help everyone out  :beerchug:

I'm sorry, I mis-read the question. He's looking for a rack to go ON TOP OF THE TRUNK.

I have a large CooCase (47 liter maybe?) and I ordered the v46 Givi rack. But the lid of my case is too round making the legs on the rack too short. I think I would have been better off to have ordered the e159 rack - it looks like it has longer legs. I have been messing with some spacers from Ace hardware to extend the legs and raise up the rack. I only need a little less than half an inch on each leg.

Here are some pics of the v47 rack sitting on my 50L Coocase. You can see that the legs are too short for the dome. I think I can get by with just some extensions in the front. I don't think I need to extend all four legs.

Phil - I have your rack already - my Coocase is mounted on it. I don't think I would even have my case any longer if I did not have your rack. Thoughts on making a top rack for a top box?
