Color-matched Topcase the lights can be added to?
« on: August 13, 2011, 07:10:32 pm »
Hey guys,
Looking for a color-matched (or very close) topcase for an '08 C14.  Also would like it to have a rear brake light, or the ability to add one and it not look like a cheap cobbled together solution.  The search just ahd me frustrated...so I'm asking you all.  I know some one has a solution already.  Thanks in advance.

I was gonna keep it a secret but, here goes.

1 Black Trunk P/N C1850BK............. $69.95 list plus tax , no electric but possible, probably straight out of China.
Put one on my 2011 black C14, it looks great, it's the same shiny black my bike is, it's plenty big for what I want and my wife leans on just fine.
It doesn't do any thing weird at 110 mph and I've had some that do so at 80.

Are you ready?  It's a Schwinn moped part and I absolutely am a proud father because of it.

Domo...I checked a picture of that Schwin Trunk...and I think it might be perfect for me to...and the price is right as well.

Seems practical enough and something to give my wife a little more confidence riding on the back.

Did it require you to buy any other adapters or things of that nature? Do you happen to have a pic of your bike with it on?

I just bought my bike (2 days ago actually), and I'm already looking for seats, trunks, etc..hehe.

Thanks!

I personally would buy a good quality case with a light kit. I know both Givi and Shad have models with lid covers you can paint to match. I painted the lid cover for my Shad SH46 in the neutron silver for my 08.

I pulled the trigger on a Givi E470 with the silver lid- hoping it's a good match to the 2008 color.  Added a backrest and ordered the Admore Lighting LED set. I'm curious if the Kawasaki color lid would be a direct fit?  That, along with a spencer seat mod just *might* make it more comfy for my wife to ride more with me.  I'm installing the Cal Sci XL windshield too.

I have the Shad-50 and was thinking of painting it to match the bike.  Is there a how to?

This top case black on top and bottom with a silver band around it.  The band is about 4 inches tall.

Thanks,
Fred

I don't know about the 50. But the 46 actually had a cover panel that went over the lid. I painted that using colorrite paint back in Aug 07 and bolted screwed it right on the SH46. It worked pretty good. It's possible that there's a lid cover for the 50 as well.
As far as painting it went. I think it was a three part set up. I sanded the part well. Then used the base color, color, then clear. I did get a little dust because I did it outside and it was windy. But it came out pretty good and looked decent. I'm sure you could tape off what you need to.

Well I have a 2009 C14 with OEM seat....with a Kawa 47L, trim and backrest in the mail.  Can I expect to dislike anything (Will there be a philsrack, tnuts purchase in my future).  My wife is a little lady but I do want her to have confidence if she leans back on it.  I'm curious how hard it is to take off and put on if I dont want it on....and curious if it is adjustable back/front any. I guess I will see.
