My DIY aux light mirror mounts
« on: December 04, 2018, 05:25:32 pm »
I've had a set of PIAA 1100X halogen driving lights sitting in the garage for about 4 years since pulling them off my WRX that was being traded in. They were on it about 10 years. So I know I like them. Seeing as how my farkle budget is all but nonexistent, I had to go the cheap err, inexpensive DIY route for a mirror mount & reuse the old halogens rather than buy new LED lamps. Here are the results:

They are more yellow than the bike's LEDs... And looks like I need to lower that right one. But I like how the repainted 1100Xs blend in with the bike, they were originally silver. I haven't ridden it yet. Hope it doesn't generate a whistle.                Oh wait, "Loud pipes mirror mounts save lives!"    :D :

Nice work.  :great:

Always amazes me to see what some guys can fabricate to make things work on their bikes.

I doubt ive had an original idea in these regards for the majority of the farkles I've found on the forum.

I appreciate guys like you doing this and posting pics.  :beerchug:

Nice MtnRider!

So I was able to find how ZG did this awhile back and drilled a hole on the bottom since it's hollow. Here's what my lights and mount looks like...

Basically its the instructions from the ProjektD on adding lights to the mirror on how to remove the mirror assembly then just drilling a hole for this instead.
