pulling stock pot........ OH THE SHAME UPDATE!!!!!
« on: April 23, 2013, 01:31:15 pm »
I know this isn't a complicated thing but I want to make sure I don't take off more items than necessary. And to be honest, I've never taken one off before. :truce:
Anyone know of a thread, video, or some of them fancy pictures that will illustrate this procedure.

Your contribution, as always, is vastly appreciated. :051bye:

Update:  Okay, I've gotten all the bolts off that need to be off. But the whole unit is not slipping off easily. I don't want to wonk on it as I'm afraid of damaging/bending the header. Any tricks to make this easier?

Final update: All done! just needed a little pulling, twisting and patience. Patience being the key!! ;)

While I don't have the information you are looking for in picture form, it really is very very easy.  Just out of curiosity, what slipon did you purchase?

Well Larry, since you asked.....

I went with the Delkevic 18" Trioval. After reading the research some people did on the Delkevic I was sold. Plus the price was 1/3 that of some of the more popular slip ons. Of the carbon, the stainless oval and trioval, I though the Trioval looked the best. but that's just me.

And since I got my ECU back from Don at Guhl motors and it's programmed for the Delkevic I need to go change it now. I have been jonesing for a ride and although my seats not back from Laam yet (waiting on heaters) I'm going for a ride with whatever little pillow I can find laying around the house. Full report once I get everything back together.

I'd love it if I can ever get this done X. They originally sent me the oval when I ordered the Trioval. Shipping was very slow, even when the correct one was sent.
So I finally had a day off today, pulled the launcher, and what do I find? the link pipe they sent me is the wrong one!! I'ts not even close! The OD for the stock where it connects is 2 9/16, the one they sent is 2 1/4". The connecting bracket on the one they sent does not remotely match up to anything on the bike. So I emailed them back telling them they sent the wrong one. The reply I got was "PR2132 is the correct link for your bike, here are some installation instructions" Gee thanks, why didn't you include the instructions with the shipment? I finally told them that "if PR2132 is the correct pipe for my bike then that is not what you shipped" and told them off the measurements. Very frustrating. >:( >:( >:(

I know, I know, I'm whining a little bit.   Must..... learn.... patience!...... :(

When I put on my 18" oval - I wondered about the connecting bracket as well - turns out that was for the center-stand bumper and did / does not connect to the bike.  If the diameters are wrong - that's a different story.  Once I lined everything up - I realized the folly of my ways.

Good luck.

There is a mid pipe gasket that some times does not slide off with the OEM pipe. I think I read someone else had the same issue. Just a thought.

+1....me too.  :)

Very happy with the 18" oval.  Love the growl when I twist the throttle!  MAKE SURE YOU PULL THE BAFFLE OUT.  It will not get too much louder, I promise.  You still won't hear it on the highway or at any cruising speed...only when you give it some heavy throttle.

It's the one small screw at the end of the outlet pipe.  Pull it out, then use a rounded screwdriver (through the hole as a lever) to move it towards you about 1/4" and then it just slides out.  (You can probably muscle it out by hand, but we're humans and levers are our biggest invention after the wheel...and you won't cut yourself in the process!)  It's just a plug, and you can put it in your pocket and pop it back in instantly if you don't like it.

Post a pic - love to see the tri-oval mounted.

Got the mid pipe gasket out already Mike.

already got the baffle out RBC. I'm sure it won't be too loud and I'm hard of hearing anyway :D :D

I'm going to take pictures tomorrow morning after I get off work.

I might not be the brightest bulb in the socket but I can usually figure out how things fit together.

It's going to be awfully embarrassing if I'm wrong about this. :-[ :-[

Embarrassed!!!!  :-[  You are correct NotSluggo, once I realized it doesn't connect to anything, I can see how it will work. But I hate it when I shoot my mouth off to a vendor and them am proven wrong. Oh well I'm sure Janielle at Delkevic will forgive me :truce:

Got one more shift to work tonight, then will put on in morning and go for a run to check to see how it works with Don's reflash. EXCITED! who cares if I have to ride on a couch pillow :rotflmao:

Hey NS, I assume this little four pack of stickers is to put on the center stand stop, Right?

I didn't get any stickers either - stinkin' nor otherwise.  Might have to ride down to the Delkevic shop and raise an issue!
Don't face palm too much about the confusion - the stocker had one more connection point than the replacement.  I think thats what threw me off.  (And you, and all the others that are too embarrassed to chime in.)

I've had my 18" carbon for about a month, and love it.  But, when I initially ordered it, and got it in the mail, I was SOOO disappointed to find the mid pipe was for a Honda Interceptor.  Made a call to them, and they had me fixed up in about 3 days.

+1....it's the missing attach point that messed me up, too!

I didn't get no stinkin' stickers either...but that's OK, I sticker my cabinet over my workbench, not the bike....well not advertising, only accomplishments:  The Snake, The Dragon, Wolf Pen Gap...but now I need to earn some new ones for the new windshield!  :)

Well Mr. Goodwrench here, finally got the pipe on. But the strap didn't seem right. After about 1/2 hour trying different things I finally gave up and emailed Delkevic. It seems that when they finally sent me the correct trioval silencer, they neglected to sent me the proper trioval strap! >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

On the bright side I did get to hear it and lets just say I'm very, very pleased! ;D ;D   And yes, the baffle is out!!

As far as the baffle is concerned, I truly did not hear any difference, but the bike did stumble a few times while riding around town w/o the baffle.  So, I put it in.

:beerchug:  OOOHHHKAY.... Finally got the Tri Oval Strap in the mail today and managed to get the Delkevic on. A little brute strength to push the whole unit toward the back wheel was all it took. :character0029: So before I took "Candy" out for a ride I decided to change the final gear oil (magically, after my "where to find final gear oil" thread, it seems like every auto parts store around had some.) So I take out the drain plug, loosen the filler plug (destroying a quarter in the process) and start draining the oil in the drain pan I used to change the engine oil.

Hey, Whats that in the bottom of the pan? Could it be a washer? It is!!! I wonder where it could have come from? Surly it's not from the engine oil drain plug! There's no way I could have done that!! Not me!! So I pull the engine oil plug, hold my finger so all the oil doesn't drain out, and try the washer over the drain plug. :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ Fit like cinderella's glass slipper. ???

Review of Delkevic Trioval with Guhl reflash:
Love the sound with the baffle out. The little decel pop I heard wasn't much and didn't bother me much. I may put it back in at a later date. I could notice the difference from the reflash but mostly from 3-6k. It has truly "pull your arms out" acceleration. I need to get a radar detector soon!!!
and with my Laam seat due back tomorrow, I can stop riding with that little neck pillow under my butt and use a real seat. :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

I'm very pleased with both mods. all's well that ends well!! :103: :49: :06: :singing: :051bye:

Oh, one other thing all you Delkevic folks. The one bolt that's not needed on the Delkevic doesn't seem to fit tight in it's bracket on the bike. Do you just keep it with the potato launcher? A bit of silicone or something in the vacant hole to keep corrosion at bay?  Thx
