Photon Blasters wiring
« on: April 03, 2018, 09:00:52 pm »
Does anyone have Skene Photon Blasters installed on their front fender,  and have any clever tips for wire routing that I may not have thought of?
Thanks.

How did you end up doing it?  Was it pretty obvious?

I finally got around to doing this.

I didn't get the turn-signal / alert version of the skenes.  So I only needed access to 12v and ground wires.

Right at the front of the fairing below the headlight, there are 4 push-style plastic plugs.  If you _carefully_ remove those (they break!), there is a piece of plastic that will come off easily.  Behind that plastic you have super easy access to the wires for the parking lights.  I just used the included connectors to tap into those wires.

Wire everything up, mount the controller to that piece of plastic, and reinstall.

Overall, it probably took me less than an hour (once I decided how to install everything).

Yea those plugs can break easily, I broke 1 of them when trying to push it back in after updating the city lights to LEDs.

Any pics of these Skenes after installation? Noticeable improvement when riding?

Here are a couple of pics of the final install.  The wire from the led runs straight back to the reflector, then around the mount a couple of times, then (gently) up the brake hoses, then once at the forks.

I don't have enough miles on the bike since install to speak to them being effective or not.  I did get a complement from another rider who knew that they are skenes!
