Please recommend Cages or Guards

I'll be taking a Total Control class later this month, and think I may want to put some cages/guards on my 2015 Connie before then.  I'd love to get some recommendations for economical cages/guards that don't require a lot of drilling or cutting.  I believe I can get the MC Enterprises cages new for around $500 -- are there any cheaper options that are decent?  I am a cheap son of a gun.

$500 is a hell of a lot cheaper than new Tupperware...

Check out the Top Blocks from Murph's for tip over protection. I am not a huge fan of the cages. The Top Blocks are very discreet. I just can't afford them right now.
Any Top Blocks users got any thoughts on the protection from them?

Agree! They've saved my "tupperware" a couple of times now. Well worth it IMO.

I've got the Canyon Cages and put on highway pegs for the long rides. Makes a difference.

Those are appealing as they are about $100 cheaper than the MC Enterprises set with shipping *EDIT: and the installation looks simpler & no-cut.  I saw an old 2014 thread on here saying the luggage guard design interfered with the rear suspension parts, but that they were re-designing.  Is it safe to assume that was taken care of?

Previous owner of my 2012 put on Top Block and the sliders. He dropped once on the right side, and there is no evidence whatsoever. He replaced the plastic piece and it was good as new.
The look like they belong, and make a great place to mount driving lights for conspicuity. Highly recommend them, but they are pricy.

+1 on Top Blocks - yes they are pricey but they are the only solution that looks like they belong imho.   Very sleek and effective and takes care of front and rear.

I am also looking at protection. I sure like the subtle look of the Top Block system but by the time one out fits a 2010 and up C-14 with the full system you are looking at $692.00 and does it really adequate protection?
The canyon cages definitely have a more invasive look but sure appear to me as if they would provide a lot more protection. I seem to have more and more trouble with leg cramping as I age and the idea of a place for Highway pegs. At this point I would have to vote for the Canyon Cages, but that's still up for debate...

I'm not a fan of the Bumper car look on a bike so went with Top Blocks.  Works the same and looks better IMHO!

Yes the T-Rex issue was cured.  I believe that was my old post about the interference.  No longer an issue.  I'm happy is all I can say.

+1 for the Top Blocks. Ordered them from Murph's and got them mounted right away.  They are elegant and unobtrusive in appearance and look like they are factory equipment, I think at some point in the past Kaw offered them as an option, but no longer. 

When you are on the bike, you can't really see the pads, only the bar that bolts in the rear engine mounting points.
