Question about handlebar risers
« on: September 12, 2011, 03:52:11 pm »
I recently picked up a 2010 KTRK (with a whopping 1400KMs on the clock!) and the previous owner had put some risers on it. I've ridden for a week or so and another 1400K with them but think I might want to try the bike without them to see if I prefer the geometry.

Question is, will I need new, shorter bolts or should the existing ones work? They're about 1-3/4" risers. Also, does anyone know what the torque should be for them?

Thanks!

You will need the shorter OEM bolts. If nobody chimes in first, I can probably give you the part numbers and torque values later when I get home.

Thanks for the reply!  I actually think I've got a torque value of 18ft/lbs from another source.

As for the shorter bolts, I'm going to take one out and go to a local specialty fastener shop and see if they have something. If not, I'll order some in from Kawi.

Appreciate it

I have the stock bolts I removed to put on risers if you live within the Portland area! I will not be putting them back in the bike, just let me know!

Thanks lots. I actually got some proper stainless 8x25 stainless bolts at that fastener place. Appreciate the offer though.

I'm going to try it without the risers for a bit and see how I like it. If my hunch is right, a 1-3/4 riser set will be in the classifieds soon! :)
