Sargent low seat, how much does it change.
« on: January 17, 2019, 06:44:13 pm »
I am wondering how much of a difference will the Sargent low seat make from the OEM seat. I'm 5'7 with a 29" inseam, the stock seat is around 32.5" and the Sargent seat is claimed at 30.725". When i sat on a concours 14 at the dealer i was basically on my tip toes the entire time. And since i will be buying a C14 this spring i would like to have the peace of mind of having at least the balls of my feet on the ground if not more. Does anyone have a Sargent low seat that can help me with this one. Because it drops the seat claimed about two inches give or take and if it barely changes where my feet are positioned i won't justify spending 500 dollars for a extra 1/4 inch of my foot to be on the ground.

You might try a boot with a thicker sole.

That a trip thru the forum and ask the folks who have any of the custom seats , such as the liam's, russell, etc.  Most of the folks who get these get them for long distance comfort, but I'm certain theres some who will attest to a lower seat reach to the pavement.  But they are pricey...

...fyi I have a Corbin 2 piece that I bought to replace a Sargent. The Corbin is narrow a slopes slighty to the tank at the front. Mde it. Little easier for my 30" stubs to get the balls of my feet on the deck.  It has a decent seat area, that after 18k miles, I'm still waiting for it to break in...lol

18K more and you will still be waiting... ;D

I have a Laam seat that I ordered an inch lower than stock. That together with lowering links made it just right for me. About 2-2 1/2 inches lower. Added Murphs lower pegs to keep basically the same leg position. All good!

+1; that's what I did. Tall-heeled motorcycle book and added some heel lifts from Walmart. W/ 30" inseam I can pretty much flat foot on my stock OEM seat now and definitely do w/ a passenger. I HAD a Sargent low seat. It helped some, BUT it felt like I was sitting on the frame; painful. I put the stock seat back on, if that tells you anything, but to each their own when it comes to seating comfort.

I've been using my stock seat for over 50K miles now in 3.5 years, so it works for me.

You must have an iron butt! I couldn't ride on that thing more than a hour.

Well for everyone who responded thanks for the help. I figured the Sargent low seat would be uncomfortable because that is what was on my Bandit 1200 and for about 20 thousand miles that motherf**ker was unbelievably stiff. As of now I'm trying to price everything out and trying to avoid doing lowering links but that's what may be in my near future. the thing is its claimed to be about two inches lower but konehead did make a good point about the slope because the wider seats eat up more of how you can squeeze the seat to get your leg down. That's how i am currently doing in on my 2003 C10, Well again thanks for the assistance i guess we will have to figure it out when the time comes. Ill keep this thread updated when the time comes.
