I would be interested in that as my Corbin is killing me and am thinking of an alternative. I would like to try a sergeant. I am in the far north suburbs. you can reach me at   westshorerigging@sbcglobal.net

Don't you have to install an adaptor on the support bar under the seat to install the Corbin?  Sure it's no big deal, but also curious to try a Corbin seat from my Sargent.  No where close to Chicago however.

Yes you do. The Corbin uses the retaining bar for the seat. It uses two bolts. Maybe just trade bikes for a little bit if y'all feel comfortable with it.

...and of course, once you guys have worked some kind of test trade please let us know which of the two you prefer...and why.  It'll be neat to see what the outcome is from folks who have actually tried both.

I just ordered a Sargent and am looking forward to getting it.  I anguished over the Corbin vs Sargent decision quite a while.  Finally went with Sargent because of the weather resistance.  The folks at Corbin did say they'd make one all vinyl for me, but still with all those stitches it didn't seem like it'd last as long as the Sargent with the kind of abuse I dish out.  But there's no way to judge comfort from descriptions and internet photos.

Thanks,
DW

I found the Sargent to be way too confining on the C14. It was comfortable. But it allowed me no room to move around. I felt like it wanted to hold me up near the tank. And my butt was held right in place. Like I said, no room to move.
Where as the Corbin allowed plenty of room to move around. The Corbin being firmer is a love or hate type thing. I liked my Corbin by far over the Sargent. I used a sheep skin over my Corbin for just a little extra softness when on trips. It also made for warmer rides in the cold, and cooler rides in the heat.
I sold my Corbin after trading in the C14. The person I sold it to bought both a Sargent and a Corbin. He kept my Corbin and sold the Sargent. He still has it on his 2010 to this day. I actually like sitting on his bike because the seat just fits me so well. Apparently our butts are shaped similar!  :))

I am still waiting for a response because i would like to try that sergeant seat out, not mention get out and ride with another Concours owner. In regards to the Corbin , I've had their seats before and loved them but i just cant get comfortable for any length of time greater than an hour. I actually find myself trying to sneak up towards the tank and sitting on the forward hump. I am just shy of 6' @ 175lbs. with a 32" inseam. I put the 2" risers on and that has helped. the seat is wicked firm, almost to the point of being ridiculous. I definitely have very little padding back there to begin with. I think if i were a bit taller, a little heavier or if i could find a way to sit more rearward on the seat it would be great. I have arms like a chimp so i am surprised at how much reach is required on the c-14 to get upright. I would bet if we took a census that c-14 owners are amongst the tallest riders around. it's a tall bike with a long reach. There's allot of motor up there so it's not easy to design a chasis that brings the rider low and forward. Thats why BMW can do what they want with rider position. theres nothing in the way with that low slung flat twin. To bad that cant build anything thats remotely as exhilerating to ride, nor as dependable. IMO . sorry i got a little off topic. I just love this bike but Ive got to find a way to get more comfort out of it, I like to put serious mileage on!!
