Sargent World Sport Performance Seat - Users
« on: August 12, 2017, 12:19:30 am »
I'm interested in hearing from people who are using, or have used the Sargent World Sport Performance Seat.

Looks to get pretty good reviews.

So far, my biggest complaint about the stock seat is how it guides me into the gas tank.

Looking forward to reading about your experiences.

Thanks,
Tim

Tim,
I bought one off Ebay about a year after I bought my bike (around 2013.)
I was told it was the standard height seat, but it turned out to be a "low version" when it arrived.

Still, they're nice seats, and look good on a C14, imho.

My take...
Low versions don't have enough cushion and are hard. I'd last about 3 hours before the pain would set in.

Loved the look of the carbon fiber cover, but it turned out to be too slick for me, sliding was an issue.
My passenger never liked it, and never felt comfortable... slid around a lot, and felt like she had to always hang on to me.

A bit pricey... especially if bought new. Again, my opinion...

I ended up buying a used Kawasaki Gel seat from another member here... for $250.
For me, it's perfect, and I love the rough textured seat cover. My passenger loves it, doesn't even feel the need to hang on to me at all. She likes it even better than a RDL I paid $500 for!

Thanks for the insight Bob.
I'm going to refrain from purchasing a new seat this season, just doing a little research for now.

Tim,

I see you're in North Central... I'm in Ann Arbor.  I have a Saddleman and a stock seat on the shelf and a Kawi touring seat on the bike.  You're welcome to come by and try any of them if you happen to be within travelling distance.  (Can't help with the Sargent, though.)

Hi Tim! I have the Sargent seat, and have had the seat for several years.  The seat is a very good quality, and I like the Sargent seat lots better than the stock seat. However, when I go for very long rides I also use an Airhawk R seat cushion too.  My Airhawk, Clearview windshield and handle bar risers are my favorite items for long multiday trips.

Happy riding...

I really liked my Sargent seat. I bought it to replace my 2016 oem seat that was shipped to LAAM.
The Sargent looks good and is comfortable but I slid forward with the Sargent more than the oem.
Actually, the 2016 oem seat is much nicer than my 2008 oem seat.
I did sell the Sargent to a member on this COG and told them that I hate selling it.

Thanks folks.
I bought a Corbin seat from someone here on the forum.
Rode 800 miles over the last 3 days, and I really like the seat.

I bought a corbin, 2 miserable months of riding on a bag of quickrete! Sold it and bought a sargent, 3rd season now it is starting to to break down a bit from using it, but it was better then the stock seat. Now that my wife is riding again I am thinking of sending the stock seat out to be reworked for more of a two up ride.

At the end of the day seats are a personal preference, ive had good luck with the sargent and it only cost me $300 when I bought it on sale.

I've had my sargent for about 5yrs,  just the standard version, normal height.

How do I like it?  When I bought my ninja 1000, the first accessory was a sargent seat.   No, it's nowhere near as good as my 14 version.

My bike had a Sargent on it when I bought it. I liked it very much, and have since put Sargent seats on my two other bikes. I no longer use the Sargent on my C-14 however, because I have since added a Corbin Smuggler, and consequently am forced to use the Corbin seat. I have chosen to live with the discomfort of the Corbin seat because  I feally like the Smuggler. I suppose I'll sell the Sargent one of these days. Meanwhile, I procrastinate, and the Sargent remains bagged up in my garage shelves, along with OEM seats from three different bikes.

I have a Corbin on my 2009 and love it. I just purchased a 2016 that has the Sargent seat on it. It's a quality seat. Sits higher than the Corbin. Softer also. BUT, for me it's the Corbin. I swapped them today. But I will hang on to the Sargent and give it a go again sometime.
